Mostly going to be prep at first. Cutting veg, toppings, sauces.

I’ve been learning and practicing basics from jewtube but was wondering if anybody else has some recommendations for books, videos or other sources for aspiring kitchen wage slave. Advice is welcome as well.

I'm an ungrateful person that Ol Bog probably hates but I would kill myself if I had to work in a kitchen for $10 an hour. You must have good parents to support you, then I guess you could manage. But living on your own, it simply isn't worth the ordeal. Might as well go to an insane asylum or collect welfare at that point. What's the point? Why do you do it anons? I am not depressed or insane. I am looking at it rationally. You're better off joining the French foreign legion even.

>You're better off joining the French foreign legion even.
It's a bold assumption that the French Foreign legion would want OP.
Not saying that being a fast food worker makes you shit, fuck that noise, but there are plenty of people who are inevitably going to work the bottom line, and don't have any non-wagie safety net to lean on.
>but I would kill myself if I had to work in a kitchen for $10 an hour
So yeah unless you want to game the system or have an unusual aptitude for thrifting, value creation, tedium, etc. that's the choice which society generally presents you by default.

Immediately start using their kitchen lingo. Ex:
>behind, hot
>behind sharp
>yes, chef
>YES
whatever the lingo, note it, adapt to it. The above was what we used in the 90s.

More importantly, ask for feedback. Is this a bit too small or big? Does the sauce need to be thicker? or thinner? If you can not get ego into it, you can learn very quickly, if they can correct you, and you can listen, knowing it’s not about you as a person, but about giving them the prep they need. Also, if you ever take their place, you will have lived through the same thing you will be looking for in others.
