Beginner cooker here, rate my meal and suggest improvements.
- 2 chicken breasts
- 1 pack of shirataki noodles
- baby carrots
Is this healthy enough for lunch?

Not bad but 2 breasts is too much, eat more carrots and roast them alongside the chicken instead of just eating them like that

>> No.16431797

incorporate the veggies into the meal itself instead of as an afterthought, makes it easier to include a lot of fiber without realizing it.
8 baby carrots isn't doing much alongside 2 entire chicken breasts

>> No.16431802

dont listen to the faggots in here. add a third breast and ditch the noodles and carrots

Shirataki noodles are basically fiber and water.

this could have been a million times better if you made a stir fry.

looks like a clydesdale/10

drop baby carrots
chop onions, carrots and garlic
sautee them
sautee the noodles in there afterwards

it would be better that way.

If you put chopped green on it like chopped green onion, it will look 60% more appetizing. You can grow chives or green onion on your windowsill and snip how much you need fresh each meal

>> No.16432454

OP, just because they're sold in those packs at the store doesn't mean you have to use them all in a single meal.

I'd say it's a 3/10 based on the following criterias : healthiness, presentation, taste and cost-efficiency.

> healthiness
There is too much meat (only one chicken breasts would have been highly sufficient), too much carbs and not enough veggies. Also everything looks greasy af.

> presentation
There is some kind of structure but the plate is too small for the amount of food in it. The noodles look kinda messy, they usually look better in bowls or put together in a round plate. You could have at least aligned the carrots together to make them look a bit presentable. Given the amount of meat it would be kinda difficult to integrate them well in such a small plate, but I think it would have been better if you had put them on top of the noodles, while spreading the noodles so that they take up half of the plate with even height. That way it's less messy and you get the bonus juices that mix with the noodles.

> taste
The meat looks nicely toasted, perhaps a bit burnt but at an acceptable level. The carrots look really sad, but what's really lacking though imo is some kind of sauce to put everything together. Right now the only things added to the raw ingredients seem to be oil and pepper, which is pretty weak for asian style cuisine.

> cost-efficiency
Two chicken breast were one would have been sufficient is pretty wasteful, even on a protein standpoint. The baby carrots add nothing to the meal and are usually more expensive than real carrots, so there's money to be saved here as well. Same for the noodle, cheap rice or standard noodles would have given the same result for way cheaper.

There is at least a good base though, everything seems pretty well cooked and the different elements go together well enough, but there is a lot to be desired on every aspect that makes a good meal, in my opinion. Also the plate in which you put the food is very important, even though it can tend to be ignored at first. Keep practicing.

Correction : after correction shirataki noodles seem to be mostly water so there isn't too much carb I guess. I've never had them so I'm curious on how it can replace a portion of pasta or rice though

try fattier cuts of meat when starting, chicken breasts are a bad place to start with for meat. very easy to ruin
