I have a mild sinus infection and it's dulled my sense of smell/taste. I can still vaguely taste things, especially the category (salty, sweet) but not all of the complexity that flavor brings. Most food is very unappealing right now, which sucks because I really want chinese food, but I don't want to waste those calories on something I can't enjoy. What are some foods I can eat that would be palatable in this situation?

I tried eggs, but they tasted gross and weird. Bread tastes like mold. I tried some cheddar, but it just tasted slightly sweet and made me gag. I really don't want to just sip on bone broth.

So, you're on an antibiotic yet, or not?

If food flavors are dull right now, make sure you don't have covid with a test, it's commonly the only symptom and the sinuses are the delta variant clue.

For an infection, maybe just forget flavors and eat for immune strength while you have the sinus thing going on, rich homemade soups from homemade meat and both filled stocks, lots of citrus marinated salads maybe some lime-curry chicken salad batch in the fridge to gnosh on (I love it on toast for breakfast since my chicken salad has a lot of mango chutney in it). Eat textures that sing on your palate as comforting such as rice pudding/tapioca, banana-mango smoothies, maybe a nice baked ham chunk filled mac n cheese, or a chicken-enchilada casserole, lots of healthy vit C in chilies.

nah I'm vaccinated. It's just a mild sinus infection like I said. Anyway my taste and smell aren't gone, just weakened. Thanks for the tips though, I don't know about smoothies, but I'll probably make some chicken and dumplings later. Chicken still tastes normal.
