I think they heat a bit faster with the downside of having much less space.

>Two in one convection oven and toaster oven
Smh senpai. My oven is big enough to fit every frozen pizza too. Literally never use the normal oven.

I do, its the only utensil in my room, haven't cooked in my kitchen/used the stove for 5 years now.

Cut all ingredients, with some skill, put meat in, put some cheese on top. Bueno. Same with fresh noodles. Just cook them in the sauce. This thing is just godlike. Its some chinkmade nobrand sheetmetal. It's got upper and lower heat coils.

Anon for real. It cooks almost anything. Skill required though. And some time for intermediate dishes.

Admittedly I need to clean it properly at some point.

Sorry to hijack, but this is most appropriate thread and I don't have wifi set up yet - roaming data is IP blocked from making new threads. I've just moved into my new place and it has no kitchen equipment. I have a microwave, toaster, a crockpot, and a cleaver. What should I get? I've read in the past about buying a cast iron pan and spending a lot of money on one good knife instead of a knife set - are these true? Are those Japanese knives a meme? I'm willing to spend a fair bit if necessary and I'm in the UK. Thanks

I do own one and I used it a lot when I lived in a place that didn't have a real oven.
My new place does, though, so the toaster oven is just collecting dust.

Don't buy a "knife set"
If you want a cast iron pan, buy a cast iron pan. I don't have enough of a use for one myself.
Japanese knives aren't a "meme", but you should know what you're buying. Beginner cooks don't want expensive Japanese knives they can't maintain.
There's no "mandatory equipment list". Buy the tools to make the food you want to cook.

The trick is the tiny space that can be heated faster and has a more concentrated air flow.

Get a decent 8" stainless steel chef knife. No reason to break the bank on anything more fancy. That and a small paring knife is literally all you will need for 95% of jobs.

If you're going to get a cast iron pan, ask around to see if someone you know has one they don't use anymore (older relatives maybe); the best thing about cast iron is its ubiquity. Typically, you can season them and get them in working order easily. There are fancier, better pan materials but a cast iron skillet is a good workhorse.

Thanks bros. I was just asking about the cast iron pan as I have no idea what the advantage of one is over a frying pan

High thermal mass while still being nonstick if you can season it right.

But you can just get a heavy ceramic nonstick and as long as you know the first thing about thermodynamics it's equivalent and less fussy, provided you're not fixated on getting blue rare sears.

A toaster oven with a convection mode to "air fry" really is one of the best appliances you can get, especially if you tend to cook small portions and aren't cooking for a family, lets you cook shit as a conventional oven but preheats so much faster

Opposite here, since getting a nice toaster oven, the regular oven rarely gets turned on

The interior space is far too small for anyone who actually knows how to cook.
