jap curry spice is worth making yourself imo, with a fresh roux it's really fucking good and once you grind the spices you have enough for like 10 pots of curry. https://www.seriouseats.com/japanese-curry-kare is the recipe I use, and it's very forgiving, I usually add a ton of different shit to mine every time (sweeteners like honey or fig jam, spices like asafoetida or garlic powder, etc) and as long as you have the buttery roux and the fenugreek/coriander/pepper mix with some darker spices like cinammon or allspice or mace, it always just tastes like japanese curry. it's extremely good, makes a huge pot and always a hit with whoever. I've been to Japan, and it's one of the few places I've visited where I pretty much just liked the food without having to "acquire a taste for it"--Germany too. The 7-11 rice balls are like fucking heaven, the ramen is amazing, and the sushi is amazing.

I will say however that I tried some of the grocery-store stuff I see in anime (can't remember the name, think it was like pork with some kind of tomato based sauce and noodles or something) and it tasted like chemical-ridden garbage. I stomached about 3 bites and threw the whole thing in the garbage, which is unusual for me. There are also some thing I know I would hate if I tried like Udon. Just looks shitty and plain. And natto looks like vomit, I probably wouldn't be willing to try it in the first place. So it's not 100% success rate, but what is.

I don't think I can actually name any.
I usually don't remember the names of ramen places I've been to. It did bite me in the ass once, as the only tasty chashu I ever had was in some small ramen restaurant near Nakano station that I couldn't find since.
IMO any place that specializes in ramen is pretty good. Chashu ranges from tasting like ass to being decent enough to eat without gagging. But that seems more of a "me" thing - other people seem to love that shitty old meat.
Even general ramen/chahan/gyoza/whatever places tend to have at least decent ramen. I do think the noodles feel pretty cheap there.
I also like any place that serves spicy tsukemen. Shit's amazing.

One chain's name I've looked up on google maps just now is ラーメンタロー - I've been there with a friend once and remembered being told that chain is famous for its meat.
Pretty good ramen overall, you get to customize your ramen a bit with garlic and other free toppings names of which I never bothered to remember. They serve their chashu in very thick slices and while I didn't like it much, it was still among the best ones I had so I think people who do like chashu in general would absolutely love it.

I dont know about the quality of Japanese cuisine in general compared to other asian cuisines, but one thing for certain as someone who lives in an Australian Chinkified city with a saturation of chinese noodle restuarants catering to chinese students and businessmen, I know that Japanese Ramen is generally a lot more flavoursome and than watered down chink soup noodles. Better nearly at every pricepoint. Chinese edges it out at the super premium stuff, but everything else, Japanese is superior.

I live in Japan and people here genuinely think that corn on pizza is delicious and some sort of hidden italian delicacy. People here are really fucking nuts about italian food but can never remotely cook anything like it. These people are born on this island, they will live their whole lives on this island, and they will die on this island without ever tasting real bread or cheese in their life and that's just sort of sad. The worst part is that because no japanese person actually knows what real italian food is like, nobody can call restaurants out on this bullshit, everyone eats it all up and calls it "honto ni umaiiiii uwuwuwu" and everyone thinks this is what real italian food is like.
