Battered fish and chunky chips doused in vinegar is the best way to eat fish though. A side of mushy peas with a hint of mint, and a lemon wedge really ties it all together too.

No. Properly and freshly made, it's great, but lots of places get lazy and basically order fish in that is premade, and all you do is fry it. Same with the chips. However, if they make them themselves, and cut and fry their own chips, then it'll probably be delicious. Add salt and vinegar, and a couple of your favorite sauces for chips, like tomato ketchup or mayo, and it can be amazing

There's also people doing good stuff with different batters for it. One place near me does a "curry" version with spicy batter and comes with a pot of curry sauce for the chips. I've had a paprika based one too, which was great
