Well, considering that their are idiotic myths about McDonalds beef that are decades old, perhaps it's an attempt to assure the average dumb shithead that their beef patties are, in fact, made of beef.

I have a friend who has believed for the last 20+ years that McDonalds copyrighted the phrase "100% pure beef" to get around USDA regulations and sell hamburger patties made with assumedly something other than beef.
