cream cheese is fine but what's the point of a bagel? why would you want a fucking hole in the middle of your sandwich?

I eat them, in particular as pictured, toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese, when traveling, and can't find another cheap breakfast. I don't eat them at home.

Nah I see blacks downing bagels all the time. I prefer an untoasted egg bagel with cream cheese. I like them chewy

The shape allows it to be boiled and baked evenly, and stacked on a pin. It's a similar precedent for things like simit and bretzeln.

It's for the sake of convenience for the people making and selling it, retard, and by making it more convenient for them, it makes the product cheaper and more widely available.

Have one every other day since I started making bagels.

Everything bagel with plain cream cheese, a few cheese curds on the side, is a nice start to the day.

More surface area of the bread, relative to interior part. Allows more crispy crust, more of that malt flavor, more toppings. Also reduces the ratio of bread to other ingredients which improves a bagel sandwich too.

Bagel with cream cheese is without a doubt the superior way to eat them. The only other way is adding soft scrambled eggs as well as cream cheese. Everything else is such a step down it's not even worth it.

Yes. Simple is always good. Tho when I had the time I'll use it to make a nice egg sandwich with some cold cuts and cheese.

Unfortunately it's been years. Circumstances required me to move away from civilized society, and the 'bagels' they sell locally are just rings of white bread.

It's not even really jewish but an adaption of european food from the countries where they resided. They clearly perfected the craft, or at least the ones in north america have.

You don't have to have a hole, you could plug it. Often the bagel shop will save the middle parts and they could give you one if you ask for it, but the staff like to bake those and keep them for themselves so at some shops you have to be a little more pushy about it.
