The truth hurts, I have worked exclusively in fast food my entire life. I am massively over qualified but because of a bad drug habit I am unable to find better work. It's just as the anon says though, the people are not hired for their ability to think but their ability to move their arms and feet for 8-12 hours.

I strove to always make sure my orders were properly assembled and I would go out of my way to make the food look as close to what it should look like when possible. But in the 20+ years of working in different places I have yet to meet a single person who thought like me. The only work satisfaction I got was making a kick ass burger and catching a glance at the customers surprised face when they didn't get a smashed mess they were used to.

I try to bring my own lunches but sometimes I am too busy or too tired and have to eat the restaurant food, even when the employee knows they are making the food for co worker 9 times out of ten it was still sloppily put together and almost always missing or adding an ingredient. People used to be taught to take pride in their work even if it wasn't glamorous, that isn't the case any more.

It's not drugs its the corporate grind stone. It would rather eat the loss of a few customers than pay extra to train and treat employees properly. Everyone is always under a sword of damocles timer to rush out food faster than humanly possible. Most of the time the drive thru is backed up 10+ cars and they are all supposed to wait no longer than a minute fourty five to two and a half minutes while also being understaffed and yelled at by management for things that aren't even your job. You never have enough help and the quality of your product is always poorer than advertised. Sometimes it just isn't possible to get it right all the time.
