wendy's has a terrible reputation here, not for anything unsavory like pink slime or beef that is only 20% beef, just for the fact that their food is not very good, and more expensive than other places for what you get.

Depends on the chain. For your first order, get a Dave's single and you'll be able to tell whether you've got a good restaurant or a bad one. The bad chains will give you dry, overly salty beef and the veggies will probably be warm by the time you eat. The good ones will serve the burger with the patty steaming hot, the cheese melting nicely, and the vegetables are still cool and crisp.

Wendy's is a polarizing fast food joint... people either seem to love it or think it's very meh. Personally, I like how their burgers taste and enjoy a Dave's Double every now and again. It scratches an itch that you can't really get at other fast food joints. Two patties is a lot but not too much and the veggies/sauces are solid. Their chicken sandwiches are alright too. I don't mind their fries but I can see how people would find them to be lackluster.

I do have to say that Wendy's always seem to have grimiest employees of all the fast food places. No idea what it is, but every time I go to a Wendy's the workers are always hot messes, which is kind of concerning.

Then how do you figure? There are a large number of people for whom Wendy’s is their favorite, and most everyone else is totally fine with it unless they hate all fast food.

I personally dislike Wendy’s and would go out of my way to eat elsewhere, but it’s very clear my opinion puts me in the minority.
Their burger patties taste like nothing to me. When I eat a burger from there, all I can taste are the toppings. The patty itself could be swapped with an unseasoned slice of grilled tofu and taste the same.

I've met people who fucking love the wendys chili for some reason, even though it's just almost out of date burgers boiled in water with a seasoning packet. I tried making my good chili for the guys at the work potluck and they thought I was some sort of god for being able to make something better than it, Even if they found the rice an odd thing to put chili on too, and proceeded to pour it onto some fries

Either way, people's inability to cook astounds me. I mean they were literally amazed that I made the entire pot of chili for less than the cost of the two large pots they both get every other day.

The baconator and the spicy Asiago chicken sandwich are pretty solid for fast food. The chili is okay, I use it on the burger and the fries. Plus, it's the only fast-food place where you can get a baked potato loaded up with bacon, cheese, chili, whatever, so that's a nice variation approaching a sit-down meal item. Fries aren't as good as they used to be, but meh, they get the job done. Frostees are a signature item, so unlike McDonald's, the machines to make them are reliable.

Once when I went to a pretty generic chain place here in the UK my burger came with bacon, but the bacon looked like it'd spent roughly 20 seconds in the pan before jamming it in there. It was still chewy. Plus it was what you americans call Canadian bacon, and I know you guys hate that stuff so that was probably the worst bacon on a burger I've ever seen

The SALADS are the best thing on the menu. I know fast food salads are usually a meme, but they're S-tier. Try it out.

Fuck, I always hate when franchise places do that stupid bullshit of watering the sodas down too much. It probably barely saves any money for them, Drinks are basically pure profit anyway because the syrup is so cheap compared to the price. It fucking ruins your meal too when you have a shitty drink, and it reminds you that if they're cutting corners there, there's probably a shitload more corner cutting going on in the kitchen with sell by dates and other stuff.

I just wish some of their employees would have the balls to go "actually yeah you really can fucking tell that you're only using half the syrup because this tastes like shit", but they're usually petty tyrants on top of that and would likely fire anyone who doesn't suck up to them

I like the bacon pretzel bacon pub whatever chicken sandwich they have. Their burgers are fine. Don't get the chili, it's made with leftover ground beef. Also, it's kind of expensive. You can get away with just getting a sandwich itself and you're fine. Their breakfast sandwiches are good though, and I like their "frostyccinos" which blend soft serve ice cream in coffee.

Kinda high priced for fast food but their burgers are good, fries are 2nd best after Five Guys and the Frostys are tasty but from my experience (and this may be different in the UK) they have the WORST staff of any fast food joint and regularly get shit wrong and literally take forever even at non-peak times when there’s hardly anybody else in the drive-thru.
