The only world he really understands is like haute french cuisine, everytime you see him make normal people food he's doing something fucked up and weird to it to make it more 'cheffy' like using fancy cheese that doesnt melt and inch thick slices of rustic bread and cooking on an open fire to make a grilled cheese. It's all about looks.

I think this is best exemplified in Kitchen Nightmares, when he tries so desperately to posh up places that have no business being poshed up, like these two dough-boys' pizza place.
Thankfully they're smarter than they let on and kept their place running with only a few changes, until they retired in 2019, right before the pandemic. Fucking brilliant, these two.

That's actually my fail from 2010. The pizza was one of those frozen ones that you're supposed to put in a cold oven and then turn it on so the pizza heats up as the oven does. I did what I always did with frozen pizzas, looked at the time and temp and then preheated the oven as normal.
