Is it really that bad to take more than 36 gram (1.2 ounce) of sugar if you don't eat more than the recommended 2000-2500 calories a day?

Not talking keto by the way, 36g is supposedly what you should eat AT MOST on a normal healthy diet

I mean, that's quite a lot
A teaspoon of sugar is 4g
How many of those do you really need?

Yes, fructose (which is half of sucrose) is pretty much only metabolized by the liver (the intestines metabolize a small proportion). When too much fructose is present and the glycogen stores are full the liver will perform lipogenesis and store fat. If not depleted this will lead to a fatty liver, and eventually the buildup of fat in the pancreas and other organs alongside preferential storage in visceral fat. Additionally sugar is inflammatory. These are bad outcomes. If you want carbohydrates eat starches which are only composed of glucose and preferably eat them with fiber (I.e., unrefined stuff).

I'm just thinking - how did I even survive before I started counted eating sugar? In the first 20 years of my life, I have definitely eaten at least 100g of sugar each day
