After years of abusing alcohol (drinking till very drunk and going to sleep almost every day), I can't drink just 1 drink and be happy. When I used to drink, I'd turn down people's offers to go for "a beer". I want to try 6 Isles, but all I see about is that its pretty unremarkable for a blended malt. Think I'd rather get one of the Big Peat blends instead. to me the Brown Label Peat Monster is very close to Kilchoman Machir Bay. both have a big honey sweetness thats almost wafting like a honeysuckle bush and the main difference being Peat Monsters burnt woody notes to Machir Bays more menthol/minty notes.

A blended peated malt or a blended malt in general?
For the former, it punches way above it's weight for its price. It's better than Ledaig because it covers up some of its flaws, but is worse than Ardbeg imo.
As for compared to a blended malt in general, it does not lack intensity as most seem to.
The peat monster is much better though, for about $15 more. It tastes most like Benromach Peat Smoke imo, which makes sense since it's peat + speyside vs peated speyside. I didn't have it close to Machir Bay, but I don't recall them being similar.

Not that that was a list of personal recommendations. Some of those are worse than Lagavulin, and some I haven't had any luck with at all.

About like a typical speyside with a blast of nutty sherry. It's been a while since I poured any. My store has another Ben Nevis bottle I might pick up sometime. I'm not a "collector" but I'm less likely to drink something if I don't have a bottle of something similar to replace it with. Talisker is my #1 but I swear it doesn't taste like it did years ago

Redbreast is absolutely delicious. I haven't tried many other Irish, except for loads of Jameson, and I really enjoyed Teeling Single Grain. It had a cowboy kick and it tasted a little young but I liked it. Banana note similar to Jack Daniels. It had an amaretto note I couldn't get enough of

the regular single barrel is fine, a bit perfumey and not worth the same amount as the cask strength for the same money

1792 is not a Buffalo Trace product, that other anon is a faggot. It's allocated right now, and it's a fantastic bourbon. Single barrel isn't worth more than $60 anywhere on earth though, just a heads up. the regular small batch is perfect enough for any bourbon appreciator but if you can handle the single barrel you should give the full proof a hit. if you ever find a sweet wheat you let ya bois know.

No spirit is "good for mixing." That's just a marketing phrase meaning "bad for sipping."
You can get away with a much worse spirit for mixing, which is a good cost saving measure. But don't be convinced that better rum, and coke, won't make a better rum and coke.
If you try to go for one bottle you'll get a barely palatable sipping experience and a better than it needs to be mixer. And for the same price as two bottles of mid-low tier trash you could have bought a proportionally cheaper and more expensive bottle.
It's not like spirits are perishable.

Reminds me of old bottle designs so would definitely recommend buying it, pour the rum out, rinse out with soap and use it as a decoration, flower vase or put some nice rum in it and pretend to be a pirate and drink straight from the bottle. They're still cheap. What distilleries are bringing you aged stock cheaper than Clynleish/Oban 14, Dalwhinnie 15 or Lagavulin 16?
Best I've come across is Glen Moray 15 which is proportionally worse, or the Quinta Ruben 14 when its on sale.
If anything they're bringing prices down through competition, and if you actually believe in the inherit quality of 46% no color non chill filtered then they should be easy to beat.
