Can't find a proper whisk(e)y thread. What are you drinking tonight? I ordered this a while ago and tasted tonight. It was perfectly okay. What are you guys enjoying tonight?

I bought a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel that I'm going to try next week with a couple of friends. How is it compared to the other Four Roses bottlings? I am not very well versed in american whiskey...

> finally got a bottle. it was the only one left after 2 more cases were stocked. it was surprisingly complex on the initial nosing and tasting. the cherry note was a first for me and the the oak is sweet and warming with a smidge of rye in the background. certainly worth less than $30.

The classic look of the label has always made me want to try that one. Not super common to find in Australia unfortunately.

That's the one to get. Or the Barrel Strength if you can find it. The lower end bottlings are nothing special and not worth going out of your way for.

Enjoying a glass of this while stuck in quarantine. I'm really enjoying it.

What is everyone's favorite bourbon anyway?

For me personally, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is the most delicious bourbon I've had. Sadly, I can never find a bottle of it anywhere.

For me it's Sagamore. Mostly because the drinks are cheap and I'm walking distance from the distillery.

Four Roses Single Barrel is a gateway drug to the world of good bourbon. Is it the best out there? No, not by a longshot. But it is very good. It's a good starter for someone interested in bourbon. Moderately complex, lots of flavor, higher ABV but not a scorcher.

Of their stuff, the small satch limited releases are better but almost impossible to find.

EH taylor small batch. It has an oily texture. A lot of spirits suffer from being too thin. It has some nice dark fruit notes on top of your normal bourbon flavors. Maybe prune.

This one tastes more like brandy than whisky to me. Maybe the batch that went into my bottle spent too much time in the sherry barrel.

Went to a different liquor store than my usual because it was convenient at the time, but they didn't have my usual Evan Williams. Picked up a handle of pic related, and godDAMN it's nasty. Tastes like rubbing alcohol with caramel food coloring to make it look like bourbon. Last bourbon I remember tasting this rough was Kentucky Tavern, and bear in mind, this was on day 3 of a binge, so my tolerance was up and my taste buds down. Shit was nasty, bro. Avoid at all costs.
