I bought a bunch of hickory smoked ones since they were cheaper than the normal tuna big pack somehow. I mean I know cans are cheaper but somehow the tuna in the packets just taste a bunch better and if I'm going to eat 6oz of tuna regularly I'd rather it not be a chore or require a bunch of extra ingredients

I have a /fit/ friend that was using tuna as a protein source. He ate a can almost every day for 2 months before he learned about the mercury, and he turned out ok. I don't think the mercury is that big of an issue, as long as you're careful

It's a heavy metal which means it gets stored up in fatty tissue, and when your body breaks down that fatty tissue for energy, all the mercury gets released and pours into your bloodstream and goes to your brain where it causes some problems

Sandy's bruh.
I think you underestimate how popular tuna is.

- In the U.S., Americans eat about 1 billion pounds of canned and pouched tuna a year.
- Of those Americans who eat canned tuna, the vast majority, 83 percent, eat it for lunch. In fact, canned tuna is the only regularly consumed seafood at lunch.
