Is gluten free flour similar to normal flour?

>> No.16160644

No it's garbage. I think you can use potato starch as a gluten alt for some things.

Kinda but it doesn't stick together as well and doesn't rise as much
Walmarts 'great value gluten free flour' is actually really really good for bread. Been making better bread than Ive had before celiac

>> No.16160861

No. Gluten is what makes bread and pastries appetizingly soft and moist. Don't bother with gluten free anything unless you're celiac.

So if im celiac I better rope myself?

Nope, I just said I've been making better bread at home than I was before celiac
Also found a great pizza dough recipe even though frozen GF pizzas and pizza crusts are pretty good (Costco for frozen pizza btw)

Honestly celiac will make you a much better cook in general as you learn to just make everything you'd usually eat at home which will taste better once you get good and will also be significantly cheaper
For pasta, buy gf linguini as it holds together better

I’m not celiac, but have been on a restricted diet because my genes suck. Not only does it make you a better cook, it’ll probs make you healthier too since you can’t buy all the easy junk food
