What has been some of the best pizza you've had?

Pic related is the best pepperoni I've had. Very spice, thin and cheesy. NY style but on the west coast. Hard to find this style out here.

It's pretty damn good. They use the cornmeal underneath which I like, but it could be crispier underneath. It's light and air on the ends and I appreciate them putting the topping close to the edge as I do not like pizza bones unless they have some flavor to them. Unfortunately these don't. It's just dough on the edges. Is it too much to ask to have some olive oil and salt added to the edges?

>>16144493

I'd say most folks prefer toppings to the edges. I actually like a crust on it's own so I can get a taste of how good the dough is, and if it's properly cooked. A shame the undercarriage isn't as crisp as the crust looks. The best pizza I've had does a garlic butter crust which does compromise the crisp of it but it basically turns the crust into breadsticks. You ever have sesame seed crust? That shit is quite nice.

Consistency is probably the most important factor to me when ordering take out. I'll pick it over price, flavor, etc. One time you'll order a pizza and it will be great, but then you'll go back, and will have a completely different experience. The amount of toppings can increase in my favor and I still don't like it. They also may change the length of time in the oven, how it's cut, etc. I fucking hate it. My autism will not allow me to be happy. I patronize Chick-fil-A a lot because of how consistent they are compared to everyone else. I think that's why a lot of people go there -- the food is mediocre but your expectations are always met.

The most consistent pizzas you can buy are frozen. There are no consistent chain or local pizzas. It doesn't exist. It needs the efficiency of a factory to meet my standards. The best ones have pepperonis and toppings that have been diced into tiny cubes e.g. Totino's. Kroger has a good Totino's clone but they swap out the pastry crust with a Red Baron style crust. I don't like how some of the other brands throw the pepperonis on top and you have to arrange them yourself. Fuck that shit.

Second best is buying a frozen cheese pizza and adding your own toppings. Get on my fucking level, faggots.

Oregon style pizza is excellent. The crust is very chewy without being tough and very crispy. Pic related is, in my opinion, the best example from Padington's/Walery's in Salem. A lesser version can be found in other parts of Oregon at Pietro's, or various Mom and Pop places.

Greek-style pan pizza with chourico/linguica. Both the style and the topping are pretty hard to find outside of the New England area. I grew up with it, so I'm probably biased, but I'd take a good greek style over NY or Chicago style any day. Although, greek style pizza seems to have a much steeper quality curve; unless you find a place that knows what they're doing, it'll probably suck.

>Late night post-drinking sloppy NY slice at an almost anonymous pizzeria in Greenwich Village
>Due etti of lunchtime genuine Roman pizza, just crusty crust/sauce/buffalo mozzarella from a snack bar on an alley just off from the Pantheon
>First self-made from scratch pie in my first house when I was 28. Cornmeal + bread flour crust, fresh mozzarella from whole foods, sauce from a jar of Enrico's. I've matched (and surpassed, make my own sauce usually nowadays) that one, but it was a great moment -- house bought, moved in, kitchen ready for life.

>whole peeled tomatoes, canned -- Muir Glen, Centos, find one you like.
>Puree sloppily, lotsa little chunks is good. I just use a hand blender thingy.
>1 TB good olive oil, 1 TB unsalted butter, smash/grate/slice 1-2 cloves garlic, add oregano, red pepper flakes, saute that all together, toss in a good little bit of sea salt, pour in your maters, stir it all up, add some carrots or parsley or basil or whatever now (I usually do basil and fine fine carrots, not much, sometimes skip it entirely). If you want onions, now's the time, I don't bother. And add you some sugar. 2 teaspoons or less.
>Simmer simmer, turn it on low, let it cook for about 45 minutes, maybe less.
>If you're making your own crust, you'll be having it resting all this time. Punch it down, shape it, top it with as much sauce as ya want, save the rest. It freezes good (Ice cube trays that seal are awesome for sauce).

I do it for the pleasure of doing it, I'm not pro. A jar of enricos or Rao's is fine by me too.

Greek style is baked in a pan with butter/olive oil. The sauce is sweet and pre-cooked and the cheese is usually a cheddar/parm mix.
