I bought some but sent them back because they were incredibly awkward to drink from. Now I use pic related, more comfortable to hold because of the stem and you don't need to angle it as much to get the liquid out.

If you really want to dissect a whiskey, fine. Get a Glencairn glass (or a knockoff); take an hour to nose it and savor all the subtle nuances.

Kind of? Their mouth shape is supposed to let whiskies breath, makes smelling the specific aromas of the drink much, "better"? Same with various beer glasses and their corresponding styles, like white wine vs red wine glasses and so on.
It'd be less of a meme if more places that serve fine whiskies had them in lieu of mason jars and simple rocks glasses - but anyone enjoying their own collection of whisky has 'their' fucking glass they drink out of, like a coffee mug you're never supposed to clean.

woodford isn't bad at all - heard tremendous reports about the double oaked, but basil fell off the rails at some point in the past i think. i've heard great things about vob 100, rowans creek, fighting cock, old grand dad 114, jim beam bonded, and apparently the old jim beam ghost which no one in ky can even find anymore apparently. would LOVE to try this jeffersons aged at sea we've got sitting in the shop but idk about spending $70 on a fifth.
