I will visit Seattle for 10 weeks and it will be my first time in USA. What are the good eating spots? I dont want to fall in tourist traps. And what foods are Seattle famous for and America overall?

Gordito's is an absolute must, amazing Mexican food.

Talerico's for pizza.

The Easy Street Diner in West Seattle is fantastic for breakfast and lunch food, plus the prices are very cheap for Seattle.

Serious pie and rocco's for pizza

El fogon for Mexican

Loretta's for burgers. It's a bit of a drive outside downtown but absolutely worth it

LOL if that is really something you believe my god

I spent 8 months in Seattle for a consulting gig and being from SE US or North Mexico however you want to define it and Gordito's was regarded as god-tier food by locals. Just because it's made by brown people doesn't mean its worth anything.

Hey OP, I've lived and worked in the restaurant industry for 6 years in Seattle. Most of these answers are shit (except the Holy Mountain Brewer)

Given the Asian influence and seafood, Sushi is really good up here. Shiro's Sushi and Sushi Kashiba are institutions. High price but you get the whole experience. Go to Taylor Shellfish if you want seafood but don't want sushi.

The Pike Place Market is extremely hit or miss, luckily for you I've been to most of the great places. Cafe Campagne and Place Pigalle offer really lovely French options with a touch of elegant service. More casually, Zigzag and Le Painer are laid back but still quaint places with French fair. Don't go to first Starbucks, Pike Place Chowder or Piroshky Piroshky. They are tourist traps. Oriental Market has the more generic name but the best Filipino food I've ever had (besides a place called Mustang, which is also in Seattle. It's like elevated Filipino)

For casual and local favorites, Dick's Burgers, Windy City Pizza, Big Mario's, Kizuki Ramen, and Kedai Mekan are all places that I've been to way too many times.

Let's talk places to fucking drink now. More brewers are nice but filled with tech bros. Fremont, and the aforementioned Holy Mountain are my favorites. The Nest downtown is in a hotel and has a beautiful view and nice drinks but is expensive. I typically drink around Capitol Hill, favoring Suika and Tamari Bar because am weeb. There is a nice row and bars around this place called Hula Hula that are all dive bars and fun to bounce around.

Everyone saying that Seattle has no food is either a seething in a landlocked state, and idiot, or both.

I've lived in Seattle for 10 years. The food here isn't very good, honestly. Everything I've had here is done better by other places. That being said, Tamari bar has very good food and drinks. Tacos Chukis is the only mexican place I think is good. Dicks and Ivers aren't that special in terms of quality, but they're local legends. There's lots of good, cheap places in international district that most tourists don't bother with. Mike's Noodle House. Tamarind Tree. Harbor City for dim sum. Pho Bac. Lil' Woodies is a good, greasy burger place. Betsutenjin is good ramen. Americana is decent breakfast.

Avoid anywhere around pike place market, the space needle, or any other tourist spots. They're usually pretty bad and overpriced.

We also have some excellent coffee and pretty good boba tea. Slate is the best coffee I've had anywhere. Young Tea is my favorite, but most of them that I've had are pretty good.

A Piroshky, a Dim Sum pastry, Cafe Campagne's brunch, or Bacco's brunch shit on Americana in my opinion. Their food seemed bland and done up to warrant the price. Also takos chukis doesn't appeal to my Californian sensibilities, so I go to Tacos Carmellos down the street. All in all, Seattle has its own fun brand of Mexican food, but if you've been anywhere in New Mexico/Socal don't bother. Never go to taco time.

Cringe.

Nobody has said anything about steak, so I'll chime in. I've had the best steaks from all of the good places in Seattle and the area. El Goucho is by far the best. Get the large filet rare. It's better than some $150+ steaks they offer at other places and it's only like $70-80. Place is swanky too and all three locations have a different vibe. Avoid the Seattle location. It used to be awesome but since they started to include the tip the service went from the best in Seattle to ok. Bellevue and Tacoma locations are based and very different atmosphere from eachother.

Bellevue = 1920's Hollywood
Tacoma = 1920's swanky underground speakeasy
