Usually greatly unmanaged and a clown show. I learned quickly that "departments" aren't really a thing because all the staff is doing shit at every corner of the store. As an employee it's less a regular stream of work but more assessing the overall situation of the store and adjusting your work for the day around that.

from my experience many years ago in a few different grocery stores: meat, deli, produce, dairy/frozen, and grocery (everything not listed) would be where you are assigned as an employee when hired and would pretty much be where you stayed unless there was a short staff in one of the other areas one day.

Weekly paychecks, the only customers that ask questions are usually women, paying the union, banging a cashier eventually maybe a manager if you're good looking or they're pathetic/slut enough, occasionally have to clean up piss and shit because of retards or hobos.

Take up overnight inventory instead. Piss easy job and you don't have to deal with customers, just a lot of rushing to stock and move shit around before 6AM.

I worked at a local supermarket in the deli for 7 months before leaving for uni. Honestly wasn't a bad job, with somewhat decent pay. My coworkers were cool and the manager was chill as long as you did your job. Hell they even let us eat some of the boars head meats and cheeses if noone was around. It was hard work but kinda fun at the same time. I definitely recommend never getting a job in the front end (cash registers and shit). almost all of them were under the age of 18 and all they did was piss and moan about their hours being too long. they threw fits if they had to work longer than 5 hour shifts. truly pathetic. they are the real cucks of all of the staff.

I work in a deli right now, and besides being TERRIBLY managed the work is fine. There's a constant stream of cleanup, and dealing with the express (prepackaged stuff that sits in a cooler.) is kind of annoying, but other than that it's fine.

>>16126645
Where the fuck do you live that that's a huge problem? Shredding stuff is annoying, and people who want plastic between their cheese slices is bad, but c'mon dude. Working the counter is the easiest part, it's balancing that with the chores that's kind of annoying.

Overnight shelf stocking is easy but boring
Store-made product production is either surprisingly enjoyable to completely hellish depending on how much you have to deal with customers interrupting you/your boss being a dick
Checkout, service counters and floor supervising are basically any old walmart mcjob, but if you're working behind a service counter you're not getting away with standing around doing nothing waiting for customers, there's always shit to do in departments.
Management is glorified tard wrangling because it's a min wage no skill job and half your workforce is either 15 year old twatsworking part time after school or 70 year old grandmas that got bored in retirement
Every grocery store I've worked at has basically no concept of seasonal employees or budgeting extra hours, when shit gets busy get used to hearing "just work faster lmao" form your bosses.

Personally the best part of being a grocery store wagie is having maybe 1% more dignity than a full on walmart of mcdonalds wagie. On a shitty day you sometimes find yourself thinking "at least I don't have to flip burgers or have to do a walmart chant"

I only did as a child and it was pretty lame. I bagged the groceries. I told them I had a school obligation on saturdays. "Film club" I said, it was a lie. They pressed and I assured them it takes the entire saturday. Pity.

Most of the managers were krotchy old birds. They had a sweet side but were a pain to be around all day. The overweight black cashiers were all super nice to me(all ages and BOTH GENDERS (2)). The white female cashiers age 18-36 are all intolerable. They hum or whistle constantly and always have cats or a lisp. All male Cashiers are gay except for the one off "uncle buck" type guy whos usually quiet, probably does a fair bit of drinking.

The store manager was one of these "uncle" guys I suppose. He showed me how to clean the bathroom using only a spray bottle of windex and in his words "25 feet of paper towels" by absolutely hosing the bathroom with the bottle and scooting around the 25 feet of paper towels on the floor under my shoe.

I would smoke cigarettes during the cart roundup. Buck caught me but didnt really say anything.

On a cold late night cart wrangle I saw this old lady who just left struggling with her purchases across the street. I went and helped her out and somehow I ended up carrying her groceries another 2 blocks back to her house. She fiddled around in her coinpurse and tried to give me a dollar and I refused. couldnt buy cigarettes with 1 dollar. Ran back to the store in fear I theyd be upset and think I deserted.

Most of my memories of that place are the clock that was in the checkout area I would look at every 5 minutes. Many memories of sad late night walks home. I remember feeling both fulfilled and glad to be doing some regular joe job to get money like anyone else but also my soul was crushed from the fluorescent lighting, shitty customers and bad music.

Comfy, stocking shelves and enjoying the job, prob gonna stay a while... but women have no concept of personal space or staying out of other peoples way and it makes me scream in my own head when im struggling to balance a big wobbling tray of glass jars onto a shelf and some STUPID BITCH sticks her fucking self right where i wanted to go and makes me hold the 50 pound glass balancing act for 3 FUCKING MINUTES. Nothing pisses me off more then seeing when a guy just got off a long as day of work and some dumb cunt just parks her fat stupid housewife ass in the middle of the isle and wastes precious seconds of a working mans life

You think women drive bad you should see them with shopping carts, or how long they are willing to hold other people up blocking isles with carts or trying to muscle themselves through other people including employees

Ive just never seen so many of them in they're natural habitat to reaize until now just how honorless women are, they are always very polite but god damn are the women especially stupid when you get to observe them all day on they're home turf

Men shop with no problems, make room for each other and act with manners, women stop for entire comversations while people around them have to complete turn around and come down the same isle from another end to get to what they want.

Oh and the workforce is segregated so only men are stocking shelves with me and i love that, keeping the cashier girls separate from us keeps them from seeing our extra freedoms and privileges and bitching about it

I believe women should have the right to work but co-ed workforces are hell

I salute you workers. Most people deserve to eat lead but you serve them their sliced ham with a smile.

not him but depending on size of trucks could be anywhere from 4-10 (given its just a grocery store.) their base pay is actually the best in our store because nobody wants to work overnight but if you aren’t an actual retard it’s easy and easy to get fast at it. it’s also probably the only position in the store that has a consistent schedule. i just listened to podcasts for 8 hours

Overnight stocking is definitely the best position in the store, the store I had to work at had the GM work overnights with us and direct everything since every other overnight lead quit after a few months as there was better pay around so there was no need to rush since he would be there from 10 with us to around 8 to open the store before he left/the rest of the managers came. Only thing is that your sleep schedule and lifestyle really gets fucked after a while and took me a couple months after quitting the job to really get everything back on track.
