I've cooked and eaten both of them blindfolded and wasn't able to make a palatable dish with the blindfold on.

The biggest difference I've noticed is that fresh is a little more firm

I prefer fresh pan-fried herring to fresh sardines. There is less oil in the herring.

>> No.16099908

I've never had sardines, anchovies, or mackrel, but I like bonito flakes. Would these go well on ramen or yakisoba?

I love sardine sushi marinated in vinegar!

fresh ones don't taste as fishy if you eat them raw, they hold their form well/are rather lean, and have different cooking applications (skewering and smoking/grilling, etc. although you can fry both)

>>16100781
looks great

They cost less
