How come temperature charts of meats are standardised in fahrenheit as opposed to the superior celsius scale?

71.1 ºC is ridiculous.

I don't really know what the temperature numbers mean in either scale honestly. You know it's all pretty arbitrary, right?

I just stick my hand outside if I want to know the weather.

The US paid for far more research into food safety and standardisation, and ultimately the results were published in US measures regardless of what the researchers used. Luckily, conversions are standardised as well.

So? 1 celcius degree is 5/9ths of a farenheit degree, have you ever cooked something where 4/9ths of a degree would make a difference?
