Used to make ice cream in one of those hand churn wooden buckets. It was my great grandparents and when I was little my grandma would set it up for us kids to mix while grandpa cooked rotisserie chicken over a food fire. Fresh strawberry or Peach in the summer, but when nothing was in season she'd make one with lemon juice/zest and canned pineapple that was always a favorite of mine... I'd give up a lot to relive just one of those days, I miss my grandparents.

I made homemade french vanilla ice cream a few months ago and shit was so amazing.

it's basically just regular vanilla ice cream but with egg yolks and cooked until the custard becomes thick. when it freezes it's super decadent.

i tried using the double freezer bowl with salted ice method first, but it wasn't working for me for some reason. so i just put the bowl in the freezer for 45 minutes, took it out to stir it around until homogeneous, back in the freezer for 45 more minutes, stir, and repeat until it looked good to freeze a final time until fully set. i should just buy one of those ice cream makers that does all that for you and works in just 20 minutes.
