Is it weird to eat in a restaurant alone?

>> No.16036531

No why would it? I do it all the time. You're just eating, nothing weird about it.

>> No.16036537

i used to do this all the time before covid. i would usually be the only one in the restaurant eating alone (note: these weren't diners, they were like nice places), i would get one glass of wine so they'd slow the fuck down and not IMMEDIATELY ask me my order, I'd pretend I don't know what I want so they don't IMMEDIATELY ask me my order...

and it's a great expereience. especially if you're not on your phone or listening to anything, it can be a great way to relax the brain and eat better food than takeout. expensive, though.

>>16036543
is misguided, it's typically but not necessarily a social setting.

Before covid, I used to work 12-9pm, there's a McDonald's literally one block away from my house. Every two or three days I would go there on my way home from work, order something, and just chill in a corner booth with my laptop and chill until they closed at 11pm.

It was very pleasing, I don't know why exactly, but it was. I also tried to order something different every time

>> No.16036987

I used to grab dinner at this little bar a couple blocks from my apartment once a week. 8ish on Wednesdays, just between the dinner rush and the weekday drink "rush". It was always near dead, and I tip well (25-30%, being a server fucking sucks), so maybe a month in the servers would just start sitting with me and shooting the shit. It was pretty great, we'd chat, one of them would usually "accidentally" make the wrong drink for another customer and pass it to me, real Cheers atmosphere. Fucking shame the place folded last year. Going to have to find a new place and start over when this is all done with.

before I had friends and a gf, the thought of this made me really insecure and I would never do it. But once u actually have a life u realize how based it can be to eat alone at a restaurant. I go to diners and cafes alone a lot too. It's very nice to have some metime and enjoy the restaurant experience in a very quiet and personal way.

I'm a sperg with ADD and I don't like the sound of lots of people talking. Their words invade my train of thought and I can't focus. So I can never really be truly relaxed in public because there's too much shit going on.

I'll order food and pick it up and then go home and eat it.

YES!

this is what you're telling people when you eat alone

>I have no friends or family that think I'm worth their time right now

>I'm conditioning myself to be happy alone with positive reinforcement

And if you're not skinny
>I'm eating right now purely out of the desperate need for a dopamine hit or to get rid of ghrelin because I have poor will power or/and self esteem

The only way eating is socially acceptable by yourself is if you're a lone contractor eating on-site or in your car when there aren't other people there.
