Kek! Try drinking 12+ drinks a day for over 10 years. If I drink over 20 I feel like shit, but I have to have at least one drink every few hours just to feel normal and at least 6-8 at night to be able to sleep.

My advice: don't become an alcoholic.

i'm a recovering plastic handle alcoholic and meth fiend, so i drink beer like some people chain smoke or eat chips. i don't get drunk, i don't even know if i process alcohol at all. my usual intake is one after work with my sleep meds and whatever's left on my off day. i reupped on wednesday, so looks like i'm having ten beers tonight

I wish I could get that in Canada. All the breweries here have hopped on the fruity IPA train and are all producing the same high-ABV orange juice. That style of malty IPA just doesn't exist here. Dogfish Head 90 minute is another really good example.

here too, i've had to stick to my brand loyalties where i used to just be happy blowing an extra dollar on a nice tasting high ABV beer. I look at them like malt liquor now. I tried a goose island imperial IPA that was 2/$6 19oz cans at 9% at 7/11 and bro it was like lapping a dribble of jager poured down the rainspout of a freshly tarred roof. didn't pay for it twice i poured it out

I get what you're saying. The only Goose products we get anymore are the flagship IPA (which is fine for what it is) and a 7% hazy cheap thing. Seems like a good deal at first, but it tastes like a screwdriver with two shots of everclear - the ethanol heat is noticable. We used to get good shit from Goose Island (Sofie and a few other fancy bottles I can't remember the names of).

Nowadays, cheapest 5% beer. Usually PBR. I gave up liquor a long time ago, or else I will drink a liter a night of 80 proof. I have only had six drinks per night (on average) for the last 2 months, and I feel much better physically and cognitively.

I plan to make it a 4 drink average a day in May, and hopefully spend June dry, but I always relapse hard after a few weeks on the wagon....

Well, like I said, about 6 drinks per night. It's important to start drinking only at night if you want to quit.

If you are ready to quit, it's easy to stop day-drinking and drinking heavily, but fuck it's hard to get past fewer than 4 drinks per night. At that point you can go dry without withdrawals, but fuck it's s hard to keep dry.

Best of luck.

nice. how old are you? where did your problem pick up? i went dry for a month and then went back off for a month and have myself reigned in to one drink a night (i get home late and wake up early anyway) and have been taking 5-HTP to keep a lid on the suicidal moods. only thing is making sure i just dont have time to drink. here i am on my off day and i have had 15 8% beers while doing errands and chores and i just feel a loose buzz and $25 poorer, but generally less interested in doing this again next week when i have time again

Nice. Got home from a late night at work. I'm on my fifth PBR and just finished off some leftover penne with bolognese sauce. I'm finishing up a shopping list for stuff I need to make tomorrow's dinner (butter chicken) and then I might watch some tv. Life is good.
