Why isn't it more popular?
>kangaroos population is incredibly large
>they cause problems to farmers, so by killing them you could kill 2 birds with one stone
>meat is very rich in nutrients

Unlikely. There's a reason veal is raised the way it is. The tougher the muscle, the tougher the meat, which is muscle anyway.

As to why it's not popular, it's because consoomers are afraid of new or strong flavors, that's why lamb is relatively unpopular in the West with the wider populace, and also why rabbit has gone down in popularity. People complain about supermarket chickens being flavorless, but the truth is, the chicken farmers have engineered the birds to be like that because it bodes well with most people. Also why most of them don't like any kind of organ meat that tends to be strong-tasting. Even in countries with traditional dishes that include them, the younger generations tend to shun them.

No, you can't make inferences and observations from the sources you've gathered. Any additional comments from you MUST be a subset of the information from the sources you've gathered.

You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence.

The real reason is marketing. Australia spent the last several decades with the kangaroo as a symbol of their unique fauna. That image caught on and most people just assume they are some endangered species that needs to be protected.

See: https://www.abc.net.au/news/rural/2021-02-12/us-considers-ban-on-kangaroo-products/13148454

Another side to the marketing coin is that there's no word for kangaroo meat.

Cow - Beef
Pig - Pork

Kangaroo needs a name for its meat to make it palatable.

>Epidemic and other diseases. Over the years epidemics have wiped out many millions of kangaroos. In Western NSW in 2016 millions of kangaroos died from an unknown uncontrollable disease that is still undiagnosed, yet state and federal governments and the Kangaroo Killing Industry continue to slaughter kangaroos and sell the meat to consumers.

The real answer is cost, it is generally more expensive than a similar cut of beef.
Kangaroo meat is fine and has no smell or unusual flavours.
The unique properties of the kangaroo steak is that they are best marinaded in an acidic mixture prior to cooking to break down the toughness, and contains a large amount of haemoglobin that releases during consumption that does tend to scare people away as the bright red juices burst out of the meat, unless you are used to it, it can be confronting and understandably repelling.
The redness of the meat and juices is unavoidable as it must be served rare to medium rare to avoid a tough, bland texture.

From U.S. National Library of Medicine
>When muscle is damaged, a protein called myoglobin is released into the bloodstream. It is then filtered out of the body by the kidneys. Myoglobin breaks down into substances that can damage kidney cells.
https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/000473.htm
Keep in mind that this article refers to myoglobin released by your own body; I have not found anything regarding myoglobin from what you eat. Also note that myoglobin stores oxygen in muscle cells, so it's not entirely toxic.

>so it's not entirely toxic
So then u're confirming it's toxic - excellent. It's about time, anon. I'm so proud of u.

When I said that myoglobin is "not entirely toxic", I meant that when it's in the muscle cells, the myoglobin does it's job (i.e. storing oxygen in said muscle cells and not killing you). However, when the myoglobin is released from damaged tissue and broken down, then the myoglobin (or to be specific, whatever the myoglobin breaks down into) would be considered toxic.
With that clarified, in the context of consumption (as mentioned in >>16016607), myoglobin does become toxic when it is consumed at a high enough quantity that the kidneys cannot filter myoglobin; limit myoglobin consumption, and you should be good.

I dont know how you can think tasmanian devils are cute when most of them have horrible mouth tumors

Btw, pic related, is the least disgusting picture I could find of a tasmanian devil with a mouth tumor. The LEAST disgusting.

They're actually not really Tasmanian Tigers then, they're Victorian.
All the Tasmanian ones are so inbred and bite each other's faces so the cancer is contagious.
Victorian ones are all clean and cancer free (still inbred like most of Tasmania though)

My bad, I meant devils. Tasmanian Tigers don't exist anymore outside of hidden reserves and millionaires backyards that they very rarely escape from

Roos are one thing but why not go after the drop bears for once and for all? They're more dangerous than all of them.

They only attack tourists and certain foreigners (mostly ones who smell/cook smelly food)
They get very angry when they smell something"new" or "different" which is where most attacks come from. Locals don't even worry since we smell like Australia to them, but if you're from say, India or Pakistan or like, middle Africa, they'll notice the unique scents you put off and be more likely to tear your face off with their claws (they aren't posioned, that's a myth, the platypus is the posion/toxic one). Most Americans are fine and Europeans because the diet and lifestyles make similar scents that dropbears are used to.
The safest way to deal with them is just to avoid being in their territory, which for Australia is anywhere along the coast, near lakes and near trees or sometimes house roofing.
They don't live in the outback, central Australia or most of northern territory, but they love all the coastal/major cities and suburbs.

Makes sense. Glad i'm European then. Don't tell the niggers though. Dropbears need to feed as well.
