>Go to order something from Uber Eats
>Price artificially jacked up on the platform because Uber is taking a 30% cut of the restaurant's revenue
>Flat delivery fee and scaling service fee layered on top
>Taxes calculated after all these fees
>Tip is auto-calculated on top of taxes and fees
>Order which would be $30 in person magically turns into $60
>Don't order
>Get notification that I forgot check out
ffs these food ordering apps are garbage

Refuse to use these services and actively screw over drivers who try to make money with them. Don’t tip. Order big orders and then complain and refuse to take it. Laugh at them. Legally only naturally

Who the fuck wastes their time doing shit like this?

>> No.15979374

>go to order something from UberEats
>price is exactly as in store
>delivery is free
>discounts are frequent
>little existing tipping culture means drivers expect 15% tops

UberEats is a good time.

>> No.15979381

I only use them when they have the ridiculous promo codes, like $15 off an order. Even with that massive discount, it's around the same price as just getting pickup so it's barely ever worth it. Not even factoring in the chance of getting cold/wrong food. If you have a car just go get it yourself

>> No.15979382

Why don't you just drive to the store and pick it up yourself?

>> No.15979385

I deliver for Uber Eats & Grubhub and I printed up cards that I give to the customers in my area, basically saying if you don’t like paying $18 for a sandwich just call me directly, I’ll go order and get the food for you (so its not cold) all you need to do is pay me back and throw in whatever gratuity you think the service is worth. Its working great I have about 30 regulars now, I don’t need to drive across town and people aren’t getting ripped off. Just a few more private clients and I’m deleting my apps for good.

Owning a car is a very bad financial decision where I live. Very high insurance rates, good public transit system

I've always wondered, if these guys really are 'killing the industry', why 'the industry' doesn't just set up a nonprofit competitor

It's not like uber is fundamentally a complicated app to make, if you skip all the algorithm bullshit

are you just always available? Or did your card say during certain hours/days only? Aside from being on call all the time it seems like a pretty good gig if people tip you well

>> No.15979432

>>15979418
Yes I’m unemployed, my hours on the card say I’ll take orders from 11AM to 8PM. It works out well since customers enjoy actually getting what they ordered, and still hot so the tips are generous.

I dunno about nonprofit, but a model where the costs aren’t pushed onto the end user would work. Like if the drivers paid a monthly fee to keep using the app. Charge each driver $15-$20 per month, they’ll make that up on one or two deliveries.

>> No.15979513

I install all the apps and never use them so I get sent free codes all the time. Doordash emailed me a 25 dollar free delivery voucher so I made a pajeet drive 20 mins to deliver me two kebabs for our dinner. Free. I would never pay to use any of these apps. All restaurants price jack to cover the large cut and these gig economy people are absolute cunts anyway. Immediately uninstalled app once food arrived.

I specifically don't order from UberEats, GrubHub, Doordash, or any other middleman service like that. If the restaurant has their own delivery service, I'll do that. If not I'll call the restaurant and order for pickup. That way the restaurant makes all of that money instead of a literal nothing service taking 30% off eat order

The 30% goes to pay people making retarded salaries in the SF bay area. If they moved out of state they could maintain it for 10% or less

it's such a waste of money that i would feel guilty to the point of not enjoying the food
eating out is expensive to begin with, let alone a bunch of other charges that cost more than the fucking meal itself

>> No.15979869

Hey, I have some easy fixes. Pick any of the following:

1. Stop being poor
2. Stop being lazy
3. Make your own delivery service

Glad I could help.

I did, I called a pizza place instead and gave the guy a 20% tip and it was only a 50% markup instead of 100%

>> No.15979890

>>15979710
Why is it stupid for the restaurant to make money? Also I don't mind driving or walking to get my food if it's close. That's worth more to me than paying 10$ of fees on a 25$ order
