just learnt about the fact that soy contains gestagen and estrogen.
gestragen have an anti estrogen effect and the amount of gestagen is way higher than the amount of estrogen in soy.
so after consuming soy the overall estrogen activity in your body is lower.
thats also why soy is a protective factor against endometriums carcinoma.
in countrys where women eat a lot of soy, the amount of endometrium carcinoma is lower, because soy has an overall anti estrogen effect on the body.

it has that effect on women because the phytoestrogens in soy bind weaker to estrogen receptors than endogenous estrogen, thus lessening the effects of estrogen. soy can delay periods in women.
where as for men who have lower levels of serum estrogen, it increases estrogenic effects

Phytoestrogens are in lots of foods but nobody ever says anything about except soy, I think it’s a lot of unwarranted paranoia

>NOOOOO SOY DOSENT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON RHE HUMAN BODY ITS A PHYTOESTROGEN

*ignores le fact that doctors tell women going through menopause to increase their soy intake and pregnant women to lay off of soy products because studies have shown that it can affect fetal development like le boss*

Because (at least in America where it's the #1 crop and heavily subsidized) soy is in every-fucking-thing. Often the top ingredient. Anything fried is done so in soybean or canola oil. I don't envy those with a legit soy allergy.

there could be some legitimacy to this in terms of the sheer quantity, but seeing people act like eating an edamame appetizer is exactly the same as a dose of HRT just kills me. i'm not sure that soybean oil has meaningful amounts of phytoestrogen though. people with soy allergies can safely consume soybean oil (and soy lecithin) because it's so fucking processed.
