every couple of weeks we have this thread.

egg producers in every country (and even in local regions) carefully control the diet of their chickens in order to get the color of eggs that the locals expect. they do this by adding or limiting the amount of beta carotene in the chicken feed. THAT'S IT THAT'S ALL!

In some countries they expect blood red eggs, in other countries everyone thinks a yellow or orange egg is a sign of icky chemicals and won't eat them so they make egg yolks that are white.

here in the US people expect yellow to orange and that's what they get.

I personally have had eggs produced by my brother who fed his chickens: feed, let them eat bugs in the yard, and carrot peels (on my request) we got dark orange yolks. then I compared those to store bought eggs. There was almost no discernible difference in taste. The store bought eggs seem to have a slightly stronger flavored yolk, but they both tasted the same.

Don't give me the ol' "you have no sense of taste" you don't know me.

Looks like a combination of rhode island reds and maybe idk an easter egger?

They are beautiful eggs. The feed probably has things like marigold and maybe paprika to get it that red and vibrant. It's quite lovely. They do similar things to birds in Japan, and they lay nice vibrant yolks too.

Pretty much, rather than a single "strain" of chicken selected for productivity, size and uniformity and then sold to every battery farm in the country, heritage breeds may take longer to start laying, produce a egg every three to five days, they may be small, have very thick shells or odd colours.

Are eggs vegetarian or not?

I know that the chicken eggs we eat are not fertilizied.
But they are still an important component in creating life.
It's like sperm. Sperm isn't a human, but it's half of what creates a human. If you eat sperm - or eggs - you are taking away the potential for life. It's very much unlike milk, which is not necessary for the creation of life at all.
So are eggs vegetarian?
