At least the organs had an explicit function. All these muscles that were just distributed all over the body, stripped away from their network to points of leverage to which they were supplying torque, is the offputting food.

And even then ham hock can be substituted with bacon. You miss out on the bone though which is crucial. Polish news reported on this as well, but made no mention of an entire city being terrified.
People called animal welfare because they thought it was someone's abandoned lizard and it was hurt. Those closest to it kept their windows shut because they didn't want it coming into their flats.
But I guess Western "journalism" is more about getting clicks than telling the truth, and it looks like it's working nicely for that.

kind of a baby about but I try not to show:

>most cheeses, sometimes, I guess
another fucking stupid one. I will eat cheese on pizza just fine but if a slice of cheddar is on a hamburger I will try to eat around it. Mac and cheese is gross to me but if I mix in chili or some other distracting flavor it's fine. I mostly avoid cheeses on a charcuterie boards, salads, etc but if it's feta, bleu, or goat cheese I'm addicted. I don't know what's wrong with me.

>strong seafood flavors
except I'm fine with sushi, crab, lobster, and fried fish so... who knows. can do okay with a salmon fillet but it's not my favorite. mostly I struggle with broth that has a strong fish or seafood flavor to it. I'll get through it graciously but I'm not having fun.
Other than that I will eat whatever. and even when those foods come up, which they do often, I try to be an adult. There have been a couple dinner party situations where I've taken the loss on eggs and just quietly thrown up later.

sauerkraut I just can't do though. I'd rather eat a corpse

Having literally studied immunology, barring some type of complete bone marrow transplant, you're not getting rid of most allergies. There some which just resolve themselves over time, for basically unknown reasons, but your memory B cells make every attempt to ensure that you're not going to lose your allergy

Read up
https://immunology.sciencemag.org/content/5/43/eaav8402

Immune systems are nearly black magic, and it's why we don't have cures for crohn's, ulcerative colitis, rheumatism, lupus, etc. We basically just beat it down with anti-immune steroids and monoclonal antibody drugs like humira until you're vulnerable to getting a yeast infection in your eye. All this misinfo in this thread is total bullshit. Visit an allergist if you want to try some type of therapy, but it's not likely you're going to truly fix it.

the hygiene hypothesis is generally controversial, for sure. The idea is that because you weren't exposed to real pathogens as a child by playing around in pig shit, your immune system attacks healthy things like food because it treats it as an antigen. I'm not sure what the current consensus among allergists/immunologists is, but 6 years ago it wasn't really looking like they were giving it much credence. People have infected themselves with flatworms, tapeworms, and hookworms to try and trigger their anti-immune responses in our gut, and the results are not clinically significant at all.
