It's kinda hard to describe the taste itself, but natto bean has a very sticky feel to it instead of cheesy.

Tastes like slimy brie rind to me. I wouldn't describe it as cheesy but it does have a slight ammonia smell, like brie. Also slightly bitter. It's alright. The "DUDE SO DISGUSTING" reactions from fag youtubers are definitely overblown.
If you decide to buy some, make sure you throw away the container that it came in outside your house/apartment, because that shit gets 10x more pungent after sitting in the trash for a day or two.

I've always found natto is kind of bland. It's got a scent to it, but when you eat it, it's just like plain half-cooked beans. It's really nothing like the sort of "love it or hate it" shit you often find with fermented foods. Maybe if you had a sensitive nose or something, it might be off-putting.
The fucking goo strands though are a pain in the ass. They stretch for miles, and don't really have much of a texture themselves.
