Going on a Midwest voyage this week. Please recommend good spots in Minneapolis and LA. Who has the best juicy lucy in the Twin Cities? What spots are amazing in LA but not too expensive and filled with Instagrammers? Bless me.

Is one of these just a long layover, or are you rolling for 30 hours with the doors locked, windows up, trying to avoid the ‘rona?

I live in Minneapolis. You want to go to Matt's Bar or The Nook for your juicy lucy. Other restaurants that are good are Holy Land for lamb, shawarma, etc. Bar La Grassa is probably the best Italian place. Revival has fried chicken and other bbq comfort food. I can also recommend Smack Shack for seafood and The Freehouse or 112 Eatery for more American food but I don't think they're offering anything that isn't also in a place like LA.

Oh and if you are going to breweries, just don't go to Surly. Their shit is overpriced and the owners are garbage.

I suggest buying a package of all american franks and roasting them over one of the many dumpster fires burning on any given street. Can't go wrong!

Minneapolitan here. Juicy Lucys are butt. They will scorch your mouth. If you insist on trying one, Matt's is probably the best. Beware, that's protester central these days.

Go to Tasty Pot near the U -- 14th St, I think. Yes, it's a small chain, but it's fucking fantastic. Get the Lamb soup, made 'Taiwanese hot.' You'll sweat like a pig and commune with your dead relatives.

Then go get a Cuban at Psycho Suzi's. Fuck me, that's a fine sandwich. Top 10.

I've been to Raffi's Place multiple time in LA. It's amazing. If you decide to go somewhere, go there. It is pretty busy, however.

I'd say avoid minneapolis and St paul like the plague right now. I live 30 miles away and wish it were further. That being said, northbound smokehouse is fantastic and we have a healthy amount of vietnamese places that are great. Somali/african food is good too
