i really wonder why car manufacturers stopped making comfy seats. have a 06 gmc sierra with cloth seats that are a delight to sit in, your ass sinks into them just enough its very nice. parents have an 07 and 11 chevy avalanche. the 07 is ok, but noticeably less padded and the material tends to create static. the 13 doesnt create static but the material does feel more hard wearing but it has barely any padding at all

its gotta be cost cutting by my reckoning. the auto manufacturers are forced to put so much stupid shit in cars now that they just cheapen other things to compensate. the avalanches my parents have should theoretically be identical, same model, just 4 years separated, but blindfolded you could tell the difference. the 07 feels way more solid for whatever reason, the inside grab handle for the door is coated all the way around in the rubber like material whereas on the 11 it is only half way. the transmission on the 07 is a 4 speed where on the 11 its a 6 speed, but the 4 speed transmission shifts so smoothly, even if the transmission is supposedly weak whereas the 6 speed shifts harshly and feels like its about to break. there are probably other idiosyncrasies as well, but these are enough to highlight that they're different.
