Dolin is about as good as you can get for white vermouth outside of France's borders.
You're a fag, but it's not because you posted a picture sideways, it's because you rely on the internet to decide what is and isn't pleb shit.

thats cool. I love beer, but I'm doing a low carb diet this year so I'm really more about hard liquors rn.
Do you drink martinis?

>>15908561
yes i agree.
I can only drink three a night, and that's reall too much already for me. I use three parts vodka/gin, one part vermouth, and two tablespoons of olive brine for a "dirty martini"

im thinking of trying pic related because it's supposed to be a sweeter version of the regular "extra dry" stuff they make, but maybe I'll pass on that and keep experimenting with different brands at my local BevMo!

i started using a 1/3 part of vermouth in my vodka martinis after seeing some old guy bartender on YT say that the vermouth is the only flavored item in a vodka martini. It made sense to me.
Obviously, a "real" martini, one made with gin is a different story.

If you like bitter drinks you'll love a negroni. The classic negroni would be gin, sweet vermouth, and campari 1:1:1. However this recipe can be tweaked in a number of ways. If you substitute bourbon for gin and you have a boulevardier. Or you can use rye whiskey instead of gin and switch the sweet vermouth for dry vermouth, this is called an Old Pal. The negroni is a nice drink in itself and is also a nice base for experimenting. It's bitter, boozy, and little bit sweet.

hmm that's funny ive had the opposite experience.
Most vodkas seem similar to me,(like not much taste or flavor) but the gins have their own characters.
I think Bombay safire has the nicest taste, but then again ive only had like 3 or 4 brands.
Beef eater tastes kinda "heady" if that makes any sense at all lol

but yeah, i only buy middle shelve shit these days. fuck bottom shelf, and im too broke for top shelf.

pic related seems like some stuff you can get laid with

The best dry vermouth for a martini is the one you prefer. I like Dolin as high as 1:5. I like Martini and Rossi in smaller amounts with less floral gins, but I find it gets in the way with even something like Hendricks..

I used to main Bombay Sapphire for everything for awhile and is still my favorite even though i haven't gotten it in awhile. It a good balance of price and taste. I don't mind beefeater when i want to save a couple bucks. When i'm feeling fancy i get hendrick's but only use that for gin/soda because i like it on its own. Bombay i use for cocktails.

I just go around trying different bottles here and there, haven't found one i remember liking as much as bombay/hendricks though. I definitely use dryer stuff for martini's

Gin isn't for everyone, but you should know that every single gin out there is different. The only thing they have in common is junpier, but they all have radically different flavors because you can add ANYTHING to juniper gin and still call it gin. Some taste of sweet fruit, some taste of only juniper, fennel, pine, they can put pretty much anything in it.

Genever (if you consider it Gin) is the least floral... but it can be pretty rough. For easily found/common gin, Beefeater's definitely more juniper and citrus/coriander forward. There's no elderflower or anything directly/literally floral in it as far as I know, and the angelica's not super up-front. Bombay Sapphire's a little sweeter (in my opinion (I've never done the Pepsi challenge with them), a little rounder, and heavier on the angelica. Both are pretty much babby's first.
