Got any pizza alternatives you want to share?

My grandma would take a jar of pizza sauce and spoon it into a tortilla with some mozzarella and pepperoni, and roll it into a burrito and microwave it. She called it a pizza roll-up. I had the idea to pan fry it instead of microwaving. Kind of came out like a cross between a chimichanga and a quesadilla.

Of course, there's bagel and french bread pizza.

What's your recipe, anon?

We called them poor man pizzas, but we would take a jar of pizza sauce and sprinkle some mozzarella on bread and throw them under the broiler.

Do the same thing but don't roll it up. Spread a bit of oil on one side of a tortilla and lightly fry it until it's golden. Flip it, then add sauce and toppings to the top side. Cook until the bottom is darker brown and crispy, then throw into a toaster oven or under your broiler or your toppings are finished. It's basically an awesome thin-crust pizza without the hassle of actual crust. My go-to is Rao's, mozzarella and cheddar, pepperoni, thin-sliced onions and peppers, but in a close second is grilled chicken, BBQ sauce, red onion, and jalapenos. Lavash or Naan is a perfectly good candidate for a base as well.

Check out Kenji's video for the tortilla version, or Ethan Cheblowski for the latter. Both are excellent and offer up some good choices for variety.

I start by eating it backwards, but I mix crust bites and normal cheese bites together that way if the crust sucks, I am not stuck eating it at the end without any sauce/cheese. This ensures I do not waste the crust.

I've heard of hammering out a chicken boob or pork loin flat, then making your own sauce (no jarred sauce), adding less cheese. It's supposed to be much better and a good alternative. I don't know if I actually believe that.

I used to make pizzasagna before I got drunk sometimes. I would get 3-4 medium pizzas, bake them 3/4 of the way, then stack them in the dutch oven putting cheese and sauce in between them. Usually something like deli meat and eggs as well. I've seen what is essentially lasagna in a deep dish before, haven't really seen my method in the wild, probably because it is kind of retarded.
