What's the most effort you guys have gone through to try a food? Spending a single day of your life in the pursuit of a new flavor is nothing. For me, it was a 6-hour round trip drive to New Haven just to try a Sally's clam pie. And yes it was worth the trip.

When I was a kid there was a mexican restaurant that I loved going to but we were poor so that was few and far between. By time I was working it had vanished, found out a couple years ago they moved to a town about an hour north, after a little while of debating the idea my friend and I finally drove up there, it was a fun little trip and it did hold up in my mind for the most part. Can't imagine what would be worth a 6 hour trip, I'm about 4 hours from DC which has Michelin restaurants but I doubt I'd go for that.
Cooking wise I've sought out ingredients for days/weeks and made stuff that takes hours of non passive attention but hey that's cooking

In-n-out recently opened by where i work. There was about a 2 hour wait the first 2 weeks after they opened. After that, the wait is the same as any other fast food joint. Finally gave them a shot....it’s an ok burger. Definitely better than any other major chain, but certainly not worth waiting for 12 hours. Oh, and their fries suck.

Reminds me of the time Popeye's had a national chicken promotion going on. There was only one Popeye's in the Twin Cities and people crowded it. Turns out it was a franchise that wasn't participating in it. People were so pissed, and one of the local TV stations sent a crew to cover it. One of the guys there claimed he took a cab there just to get the special. His cab ride probably cost him over $100. For fucking fried chicken. I'd ask you guys to guess the guy's ethnicity but that's low hanging fruit.

Well you how when it comes to fried chicken certain.......nuff said. The suburb just to the souoth of me finally sold off the property where they built a site for WalShart (who abondoned it 3 years in) which had been idle for years. The new owners razed the place and are putting up apartments and condos with some spaces for businesses. I actually hope one of them is a Popeye's I know their chicken is probably just average or a little above that but I'd like to eat some Red Beans and Rice and Jambalaya on occasion. Not many options for that here in Minnesota.

Oh man, you're missing out. There are two local fast Cajun restaurants in my town with a brilliant business model: they make a dozen dishes, in huge batches at the start of the day, and keep them simmering. When they sell out, they're out.
When you order, though just throw down your choice of rice or pasta, ladle on a huge portion of whatever you ordered, and run a piece of garlic bread through the toaster oven. Takes 5 minutes or less to get your delicious meal for maybe $8 with a soft drink. Plus they've got vegetarian options if you want to take your girlfriend. It's perfect, they make a ton of money.
