i dont own a fridge. i live in a western first world nation. don't ask me how that happened and thats just how it is. it has been that way for years.
anyway .. i want to challenge myself to spend as little as possible on food and groceries this month.

heres the challenge:
>food needs to be able to survive without a fridge
>should have some variety
>as cheap as possible
>i cant buy food every day so ideally i want to go to the store maybe once a week so the food should last for 7 days

i been eating a lot of pasta cause thats the only thing i can come up with here but even pasta needs some stuff that also needs a fridge like parmesan cheese or so. im just not very creative to come up with new solutions or ideas. i usually spend around 150€ or so a month on food (average). the last 3 months i been keeping it at around 100€ but i know i can do better.
i know the obvious solution is to buy like 15kg of pasta for 20-30 bux and to eat that for 30 days but there has to be something else that i can do.

$95.94 will get you 324 packages of variety chips, that's 15 packages per meal

these won't go bad out of a fridge
7 varieties that's enough to have a different variety each day of the week
very cheap per calorie
one stop shop bro

You either get your ass out more often or you'll need to eat canned shit which is xpanive and nutritinally void.

yeah in the beginning i bought food daily but with the new globo homo mask mandates and shit like that its annoying. i got used to going less cause of corona. i know i can solve all my problems by going every day but i als odont have a car and i have to walk 2km one way ot the store and carry all the food back. its all so tiresome.

Anon, I have bad news.
Either way, what do you wanna hear? If you aint going to buy fresh stuff daily you can't have fresh meat or dairy and honestly, shelf stable milk is worse than starvation. You're diet will mainl be shitty vegetables and canned stuff, maybe with a couple salamis thrown in.

What is preventing you from buying a mini fridge? You even can get them for free on your equivalent of craigslist. Just clean properly. I'm speaking from experience as I had lived without one for 18months. In the end it cost me more than just getting a small one.

i live in europe. ill check if i can order ramen online for US prices. a pack of ramen costs like 0.49€ cent in the store and i never thought thats good value when you can buy 500gr pasta for 0.39 cent and make lik spaghetti aglio e oglio with it or something but 24 for 6 is decent value.

Well, in that case, the easiest option ss dried legumes with some greens (carrots, potatoes, leeks whatever floats your boat and stays nice at room temp), shelf stable heavy cream and some canned wieners or room stable bacon.

Just do not forget to soak the legumes in water with a splash of lemonjuice or vinegar to fuck those antinutrients. Ideally over night. Next day discharge soaking water and cook as usual.

You can add some bread to it and hav a warm and cheap meal everday. Other than that, pancakes or crepes (if you're not a mutt which bleach their eggs, you can let them stay at room temp easily for two weeks). You just need to use up the shelf table dairy withi two days, especially during summer.

If you make something with meat, like cheapo chilli, you can let it stay for up to two days as long as you don't use a salivated tasting spoon during the cooking and let it cool down quickly afterwards (ideally put onto stone flooring or at least on a baking rack without the lid - stirring it a couple times - you want it to cool down as quickly as possible, letting it on the stove or with the lid on increases humidity and bacterial growth). If you can, put it somewhere cool like a cellar if you have, but it will be fine either way. No worries, if not, it will foam and taste like bubbly pickles.

Historically you got your food from our garden (always fresh), freshly butchered (impossible if he doesn't want to go out that much - same for dairy, and he can hardly behead a couple chickes in his bathtube or dry meat in an appartement. Living like some townsend faggo is impossible in most places in europe.

Wow, you got your panties in a bunch. Project much? Just cos you don't have a garden

OP could keep jars of pickled veg, cheese and processed meats in a cool, dry and dark place. This will minimise his need of a fridge. No agriculture required besides some pot plants like mint.

I have a big garden, currently growing a bunch of vegs but that isn't a solution for someone in a city which probably doesn't even have a balconette. Last but not least, it's not a cheap hobby and surely not for someone who wants to save money and move soon, retard.
>muh instagramm
Jesus fuck, there is nothing I hate more han urbn garden hipsters thinking they are self-sustainable because they harvet 4 cherry tomatoes and herbs which are insanely polluted with heavy metalls.

>OP could keep jars of pickled veg, cheese and processed meats in a cool, dry and dark place.
You never lived in a city appartement. In most parts of europe, especially the cities, you have one room plus bathroom, no cellar. We also do not have aircons. If it's 40°C outside, there is no cool place in your home. And if you think OP hasn't thought about using shelf stable cans, you're even more retarded than I thought.
