Basically, a jar filled will carrots and pickles suspended in somewhat goopy ketchup.

Remember those times you tried to make actual food as a kid, without any guidance, recipes, or cooking theory in mind? That's British cuisine.

The second post is wrong though, it doesn't have ketchup, or anything like ketchup

It's chopped up vegetables in a tangy sauce

It tastes a bit like worcestershire sauce

After hearing about this on /ck/ I decided to hit up the import aisle and try it on some nice dark bread and I was pleasantly surprised. I wish I'd also gotten some of the baked beans of the variety that Heinz sells over there but there's always next time.

And Bush's blows both of them out of the fucking water. I recall the one time I went to the International section of my grocery store and got Heinz because brits always seem to say how great they are.

Any good sandwich bread, your choice.
Use a good mature or vintage Cheddar, mild cheese is overpowered by the strong taste of the pickle.
Salad items are a common addition, such as onions, lettuce, and tomato. This is known as a Ploughman's Sandwich.

Are you telling me you can't get Heinz baked beans in American supermarkets besides the international section? Heinz are an American company aren't they? So surely Heinz baked beans should be on American shelves?

Clearly you've never had British food, mutt.

Can't stand the stuff and I'm a Brit. It's like battery acid strong. Crude, like most of our shop bought condiments. They took the chutney idea from India (who make some of the best) and made it worse.

I prefer slicing raw onion very thinly and letting it sit in a good quality vinegar and a few coriander seeds/dill. You get the same type of experience but much more flavoursome.
