actually had this happen to me once.

showed up to a place because i heard the food was excellent. there was a photographer taking pictures of the patrons, food, dining room, the bar, etc. i suppose the intent was to post it on social media so that they could gain a reputation with young, beautiful people who have money.

i'm really ugly. hideous even. i put zero effort into my clothes or appearance.

a lot of this was in hindsight, but when i entered, they looked aghast. i actually remember looking behind me thinking there was someone else. like, someone with a gun, or a giant bear or some shit. nope. just me.

they told me that all their seats were filled, but i saw several empty booths and tables. it's possible they would have said that to someone attractive, but i really doubt it. i think they would have gladly sat them.

anyways, they took my order, had me sit in a chair *behind* the register where i don't think anybody entering could see me, and brought me my food, and i left

Not that anon, but I went to a "nice" restaurant that had a wall separating its two dining rooms. They had several empty booths and chairs, and sat me in the other dining room alone. It's possible it was the reservations-only or jacket-only room, but I really doubt it. Finished my meal without a single soul being seated nearby.
