Waffles aren't inherently sweet, it's just a batter that gets cooked on a certain kind of griddle. There are old recipes for waffles that don't use any sugar. Of course they're commonly known as something sweet now and I don't really know what the other poster was trying to imply, but you can have completely savory chicken and waffles.

Pizza already has enough sweetness with tomato sauce. Fucking pineapple just makes it way too sweet and destroy the delicate balance of any good pizza.
