How would you make shitty sardines taste not shitty?

Salt and pepper, at the very least.

Somehow I didn't think of this.

Not a bad idea, might try
>>15781231
I've done sriracha but not tabasco.

These were really shitty, store didn't have the ones I usually get.

I'm not sure what brand those are, but they look pretty good.
>b-but that's just an image i pulled off google, not what i'm actually eating!
Then post what you're eating and spend a dollar more to buy something good. We've had daily deenz threads going on 3 years now, so if you bought shitty sardines that's on you. Oh no! You're out $3...

The only fix for sub-par deenz is upping the whiskey intake and/or adding more of your hot sauce of choice.

Pickled red onions. They're dirt cheap to make yourself. Seriously they cost $1.50 a jar including the cost of the jar.
Also putting sardines on top of a good cracker, or a good piece of bread helps a ton.

Tl;dr is 50/50 white vinegar+water brought to a boil. Add sliced onions to jar. Pour over hot vinegar mixture on top.
You can add peppercorns, sugar, apple cider vinegar, whatever else to the mixture if you want. But the basic recipe is vinegar+water+onions in a jar.
Let them sit in the fridge for 2-3 days and enjoy.
It's probably the simplest pickle recipe I know/use.

Drain the oil into a pan, fry some scallions/garlic/ginger/chili, add whatever spice you like(I like coriander and fennel seeds), add the deenz and coat them well with the infused oil, add some fish or soy sauce, reduce a bit, take off heat and add lemon/lime/vinegar, add whatever chopped fresh herbs you have. Wallah.

Draining, then pan frying them. Yes, will try that soon. Have been eating them straight out of the can w/ mustard and onions and misc cheeses and condiments, very bland that way. The fish itself needs to be torched a bit. I always knew this, but too lazy to pull the pan on the stove top.

They don't taste shitty to me.

Mash with salad dressing (french, italian, ranch, whatever); stir into scrambled eggs.

Aside from eating them whole, like an animal, u can make a spread. Combine butter (or that shit butter-like plastic substitute), deenz and chopped onion, salt & pepper to taste, then mash that with a fork. Spread on bread tosted or not, top with something, or dont, and enjoy.

olive oil
garlic, chilies
toss in hot pan
toss sardines
a tiny bit of sesame oil to reduce the smell
take out of pan
top with fish sauce, chives / green onions and black pepper
mix it all up
serve over rice
