What do you prefer to use for your homemade tomato sauce?

KS is either as good or better than name brand. It's part of their guarantee. Ofc that's subjective but I think they hit the "as good" marker consistently.

Only some of them are. The usual version at Costco is non-DOP.

>real San marzanos
It's made in Italy, no way in hell you can tell if it's a fake or not.
The Italian mafia makes more money on fake olive oil than everything else combined. Fake mozzarella is a billion-dollar industry. What the fuck makes you think they ain't making canned tomatoes?

San Marzano is a joke, some are good, some are bad. I’ve had better luck with organic tomatoes but in general canned tomatoes are all over the place in terms of quality

Sounds like you've never had real ones.

only if you can also find a Consorzio San Marzano certification number on the bottom of the can. DOP isn't regulated in the USA and frequently Italian fucksticks will send cans of tomatoes over unlabeled. A label gets slapped on here saying DOP and since DOP isn't regulated here they are free to do it

95% of "DOP san marzano tomatoes" are fake

I made a pizza sauce from scratch with them on Saturday and it turned out fucking amazing. I'm still convinced that they are indeed a meme tomato but I froze the sauce and am going to make sauce from a can of just the "regular" whole peeled tomatoes and do a side by side taste test to see if there's actually any difference.

>> No.15725955

Yeah the san marzano label is just a selling point. They're really hit or miss. I've had some DOP ones that barely even had flavor. My favorite recently have been mutti brand.
