My dinner this evening.
Roasted crispy chicken thigh/leg with caramelized onion and garlic mashed potatoes, and garlic and lemon roasted asparagus and mushroom caps.
'Twas good.

Asparagus LOVES swimming in a sauce.

Soaks the sauce up. A forkfull of sauce-covered mash along with some dry chicken is a much better synergy than bland mash with dry chicken.

Broke out the grill yesterday, after a first round of wings it was pesto risotto (ok, could have added the last splash of veg broth and maybe less pesto), ceder plank salmon (again ok, forgot I was going to add lemon/honey), beef loin (breddy gud, especially with some Melissa's horsey sauce), garlic/lemon asparagus (ok, needed more lemon +zest), sprouts (ok, had too many things going to give them the love they needed since they were fucking huge).

Beans did come from a can, but they're pinto beans. I don't feel like soaking pinto beans for 8 hours. Sauteed some onions, added chili powder & cumin, simmered for like 15 minutes, then mashed them.

Rice absolutely was homemade. Browned the rice for about 10 minutes in vegetable oil; then added chicken broth from the chicken I boiled earlier with a bouillon cube; added sazon, adobo, garlic powder, and tomato paste; then simmered until it was done.

Oh didn’t read your thing about the noodles. I made sure to cook the noodles in the pan for a bit with the dashi to help absorb flavor. I also top them with marinated seaweed, season them in some way, or add sesame seeds.

I’ve also noticed that some noodles are way less receptive to absorbing flavor, i had to try a couple before i found a good one.

Lastly noodles have a lot of mass, you need to season your sauce alot becuase there will only be a small coating on the noodles. I make my brother pretty intense.

See how the stalks are wrinkled and the bristles are pointed outward. That's from roasting you daft faggot. You want the asparagus to retain some rigidity, not the wet noodles your wife serves you. Also, the crowns are really crunchy, they're great. I make them in my air fryer :^)
