I'll ask this question here since /out/ seems to be content eating MREs and CalorieMates. What does /ck/ like to make outdoors, while car-camping or backpacking?

yes. /out/ is a terrible place and no one should ever go there
Car camping is almost like cooking at home, so it's nothing special
Backpacking, I bring mac and cheese, ramen, jerky, crackers, instant hummus, instant soups, tortillas, hard cheese, instant beans, etc. I usually splurge and bring a couple of freeze dried meals, but they don't re-hydrate so well at high altitudes

bacon (dry cured, not wet brined), hard cheese, salami, jerky, bannock, rice, stuff like that

Marinate a steak the night before and cook over the fire on a grate. My go to fist day camping meal. If you wanna go multiple days with no fridge, though, MREs all the way.
