Technically it would be $2.33 if three meals a day instead of four, but this is mine, with two microwaves it's ready in 9 minutes.

It's mostly the expense of the meatballs but I'm not sure where to get pre-cooked frozen or canned meat with the fat content I want for macros similar tot his cheaper, this is a bit under $4/lb and the replacement would need to be quick and clean to prepare and microwave.

go to your local store and look for bone-in skin on thighs or leg quarters, you can get 10 pounds for like 5 bucks

I assumed he bought one of those big packs of drumsticks and thighs that sometimes go on discount for like $2/lb or so if they have too many. Granted some of that is bone weight but it's not a bad deal if you want to actually cook.

Any ideas about cheaper frozen meat ideas though? I like these meatballs and want to keep my protein and fat up without making the meal more complicated to microwave, but $200/month on food for one person seems like too much still.
I'm not too picky but I don't really like the very cheapest store brand frozen chicken fingers which are a bit cheaper, plus between the breading and the filler grains the protein is too low in them. Normal frozen precooked chicken is all more expensive and also I'd have to add cheese or something for more fat.

it'd be cheaper and tastier to swap the meatballs for chicken thighs, coconut milk, and spices for a curry. it doesn't have to be like this anon

>> No.15707800

>>15707790
I'm not sure it reliably would be, but also I'm pretty sure I cannot microwave chicken thighs, coconut milk, and spices into a curry, nor even if I wanted to cook could I make them otherwise in 10 minutes. I've also never met a curry I really liked more than just cooking the meat normally with Italian or Mexican spices.

you'd have to stew it for an hour or so once a week, you can microwave every other time you eat. but yes, chicken thighs are 1/3rd the price of those meatballs, a weeks worth of coconut milk is <$2, and you can get cheap bulk whole spices that will last for months. even if you don't mind eating dry mystery meat, your organs will thank you for eating less processed meat. you could even just bake the chicken thighs and itd be substantially cheaper + healthier.

This is literally not true. Maybe 2/3 pounds for $5 if it’s on sale.

>> No.15710419

The problem is that a lot of that weight is bone, I don't know precisely how much but I'd say maybe 40% for thighs? So even if I get them cheap and am willing to deal with the prep and hassle and cleanup of raw meat and stewing and so on, I'm not saving much money.
>mystery meat
I solved the mystery, it's the parts of the cow and maybe the pig that didn't make a whole cut or don't look good enough to sell as one, and some tendons and stuff. That sure was a tough mystery and definitely affects the nutritional content...
I would like to find something less processed but this is basically just ground beef with salt and spices formed into meatballs, so the only thing I might pivot to that's less processed is canned chicken, but because of the low fat content it doesn't microwave well, so I guess it would be chicken and cheese over the precooked carbs for the last little bit in the microwave.

40% seems a bit steep, it really shouldnt be more than like 20% bone/inedible material. but don't forget you can use the bone to make stock, or feed your pets if you have any. if youre gonna pivot to canned chicken, or if it's absolutely critical that you can microwave it, tuna is also not a bad option. also as far as fat content goes for microwaving things, just spread a little oil on lean meats to compensate, that's an easy fix. do you have access to a regular stovetop and oven? the microwave is gonna really limit you if you want your diet to be cheaper, healthier or both.

Why eat something you can't even digest? Humans don't possess the enzymes to digest fibrous material. If your gut literally bloats and gasses are created from a sorry attempt you shouldn't eat it.

Roughage cleans your bowels. Cleaning your bowels through mechanical sweeping (as undigested fibre makes it's way through your system) has been shown to remove cancerous cells and improve absorption of subsequent nutrients from later meals etc.

Eat fibre. Clean and tone your gut. Avoid bowel cancers. Condition your gut to work better.

It's all a series of "wins" anon.

Something your body ejects as quickly as possible seems worthless. Most vegetation is completley man-made anyway, and in every corner of the world that humans have lived in, the only constant food source are animals. The Inuit had zero degenerative diseases before the White man have them slave foods like wheat. All they are were carnivorous seals and their massive amounts of fat, raw, and often rotten crawling with every imagine bake naturally occuring parasite and bacteria. Humans are animals made to survive in the wild like any other animal.
