How do i cook burgers on my stove without making billowing clouds of white smoke?

Um, turn on your overhead vent and open a couple of windows? Did you really need to be spoonfed that bullshit?

Maybe your fire is too high or the smoke point of your oil is too low.

When you cook really smokey foods you need to cycle the air out of your house. Some of us are lucky to live in mid century southern homes with a working whole house fan which is perfect for the job. For everyone else you open two windows. have a box fan blowing in and another box fan in the kitchen window blowing out. Make sure there are no closed doors and try to have the line between the two window fans as straight as possible. Not only will this completely clear the smoke and odors out of the house, it will also very quickly cool it down on a summer evening.

I can't turn down my stove much more without it being too low to cook the burger. I'm not using oil.

i'm going to get a propane grill for real if I can't figure out this smoke. My house is full of it any time i cook a burger.

Unless you want to steam your burger under a pot lid, you don't.

Use the grill inside dummy. You wont be cold and it will warm the house up. Make sure any windows and vents are closed though to keep the heat in.

Put a lid on it, yea it'll steam the burgers a bit but they'll still be good.
