they're okay but they're usually offered as an alternative to hashbrowns, which are infinitely better

I remember regularly eating grits and hashbrowns as a kid.

What's your cheese grits recipe? I love grits but have in the past only eaten them as a breakfast food, and I really don't eat breakfast anymore.

>What's your cheese grits recipe?
Make a pot of grits
Throw a bunch of whatever cheese I have laying around in there.
Add some garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, a bit of salt, and maybe some MSG.

You would be better served looking for a recipe from people who've made a concerted effort to get the most out of this dish.

Im midwest and we dont eat them much. I make them and like them. On christmas I made short ribs with cheesy grits. My family told me I should have done cheesy potatoes. Whatever. I liked it

Because I made it hastily and ate it out of a tupperware container over the sink in my boxers like a piece of shit.

I make shrimp 'n' grits as the stores here stock grits.. I've moved from the midwest to the pacific northwest and often they don't carry them here for whatever reason. Turned my husband's whole family onto them as they'd never really bothered trying them before!

If your grits don’t taste great with simple additions of butter, salt, an pepper, they’re shitty grits.

You add the cheese to the bowl not the pot. It's okay yankee you tried

So, Mr. Tipton, how could it take you five minutes to cook your grits, when it takes the entire grit-eating world 20 minutes?

Regular grits only take like 5 minutes to make. If you want a creamier texture you're gonna want cook them on low for longer and stir.

I was the only person eating them. Also I live in the Deep South.
