It’s a Dominican version of fried rice - it has beans, veggies, and fish, and she actually doesn’t cook the rice in oil (because that would be unhealthy she says haha) instead she drizzles in a bit of olive oil once the rice is done cooking. Maybe every single one of these people has given money and food to homeless people before but they keep it to themselves because they don't feel like feeding a man a fish for a day is a pissing contest.

The homeless are usually mentally ill or severely irresponsible. They do not participate in society but expect society to keep them alive for nothing. Many of them struggle with addiction and many of them will die on the streets no matter what. There was a guy who helped this one bum out, gave him a house and gave him something like 50-100 thousand fucking dollars. All he asked was that the bum started working part time at the job he got him (night shift as a cashier) and he would continue to support his life.

Wanna know what the bum did? Spent all the money on liquor, drugs, gambling, hotels, fancy clothes, and fucking limousine rides. Then harassed the guy who helped him for MORE money. When the guy stopped paying him because he wasn't getting his life back on track, the bum smeared him on social media and gave this poor fucking guy serious depression and PTSD. Even though he had all the paperwork and receipts, people still believed this stupid bum.

We only feel compelled to help the homeless because we ourselves fear becoming like them and not getting help. But most of us will never end up like that because if someone offered us a job we would fucking take it and stick with it.

it is more expensive to have them on the street causing problems than it is to house them under strict requirements and protocols. where i volunteer in winter it is a kitchen and also a shelter. the residents are put to work keeping things tidy in shifts, and they are generally well-behaved (and well-dressed, definitely well-fed, and with state-of-the-art cell phones)
the only real problems come from drug use in the shelter, which gets them removed but it is very lenient

I'm the rule not the exception, but few are going to straight up say this to people. If you don't believe this then congratulations you've been pretty sheltered and not really with the rabble your whole life

Might have been a joke, I used to say the same thing when I was going through hard times. Never meant it, obviously no one's going to give me a big bill if they're handing me spare change, but it eases the tension a little, it's such a painful experience to ask someone for a little change, even more so when you're counting out pennies at taco bell for a burrito. Made it a little less painful by going "oh actually, can I have $100?" and chuckling.
One guy actually gave me everything in his wallet, like $240, I actually tried to give it back I was so in shock. Never saw him again, but he basically saved my life, got a room at a motel for the night, got a haircut and decent clothes, spent the rest of the day pounding the pavement until I got a job washing dishes, eventually became a bartender. I live in a city where we have multiple shelters and soup kitchens and churches that provide for them.

They ride the free transport to each place, eat for free all day, and then beg a bit, and spend the money on their vice of choice. Since our city is super liberal, we literally put resolutions on the ballet for camping where you please. 30 percent of people in my city thought it was OK to let homeless people pitch a tent near an elementary school. Our downtown area is a homeless sort of apocalyptic drug trading settlement, and the areas between highways are filed with tents, and feces, and sewage you smell as you drive by. Fires occur at these camps regularly. The police refuse to clean them up. There's one guy who pitched up a lean to on a sidewalk by the highway, and he's been there for 45+ days now. Put them back in asylums, detox them, and then put them in work camps so they can get educated and get a job. The rest that refuse to can live in the fucking desert and bake under the heat of the sun and freeze in the cold nights.

There's a reason I don't give to the homeless. It's in inappropriate answer to the problem, same as giving food, or socks, or any resource with value. It teaches dependence on others is an acceptable way of life, rather than independence through meaningful work to or for others.

When I was in Bangladesh a homeless person came up to our car and our driver gave them some coins and they went away. All of a sudden the car was swarmed by homeless people shaking the car and wanting money.

Yes, but herein lies a few problems.

One, most countries mental health and social support infrastructures are absolute garbage and are just becoming more and more overburdened by mass immigration in to them.

Two, the overwhelming majority of homeless are dual diagnosis cases. So yes, they are addicts, but the addiction is caused or exacerbated by underlying MH disorders. Many of them are legitimately incapable of being "productive members of society" and just need to be institutionalized.

Which brings us back to one. There is no political will to bring back institutions because
A. Many city governments now (like Seattle) are making millions of dollars from the homeless issue through "emergency aid". They don't want that to stop.

B. Society decades ago decided that we don't want institutions because "oh my God they're prisoners and didn't commit a crime!" (lefties) and "I don't want to pay my taxes to house some crazies!" (righties)

So now you're stuck with "Community Programs" that are ultimately worthless. The homeless who can improve will improve through existing resources. The rest are addicts stuck in the cycle or chronically mentally ill that can't even take their daily pill, let alone commit to actually showing up to outpatient services.

We have it stuck in our societal heads that homeless people are just "down on their luck". So we believe they just need some help or they can "pull themselves up by their bootstraps", but the depressing truth is that 90%+ of them will never improve, they'll never become independent and productive members of society, and by just keeping them in the community the damage and cost they cause far outweigh the cost of institutions.

It's common knowledge (or at least it should be by now) that if a "homeless" person declines a food/clothing/etc. offer and insists on money, they're not really homeless but actually just panhandlers.

They often go around in groups, each person taking a section of territory, then when they're done for the day, they meet up again and split the money.

I hate the homeless, I think it should be legal to physically assault or kill any homeless you find sleeping on your property. And bums in the subway should be collected up and drowned in the ocean. When I was in high school they made me volunteer in a homeless shelter and I found out firsthand how evil they are as people "when you get to know them." Virtue signaling pisses me off because I think it's fake 90% of the time. I have a hard time comprehending that anyone could actually want to help others. It's simply something that I don't experience and it doesn't make sense why anyone would willingly give up their resources for strangers. The only explanation is that they're doing it for attention, which is especially likely when they are posting about it or participating in charity as a social event. I am an autist, and I find it annoying when people lie about their feelings and intentions. It seems that they are intentionally making it hard for me to understand their behavior.
I do accept that there is some small contingent of people who do actually enjoy helping the homeless and don't post about it. I think these people have a mental illness and I find it pretty disgusting, I guess I don't hate them but they do piss me off too. Helping the homeless is, in itself, a socially destructive behavior. The homeless are a blight and society would be better off if they were killed or imprisoned, sent to live in the forest, or exiled. Feeding the homeless only keeps them around longer and increases the amount. You might as well be feeding rats or planting dandelion weeds in the soccer field at the park. There is no logical argument that can change my mind because I am incapable of experiencing empathy for dirty strangers.
