in bozeman montana where i grew up there is a deli called the pickle barrel that has a barrel of pickles.
it's in the customer area, not behind the counter, you pick out your own pickle with tongs

Whatever seems best between a jalapeno corn dog, nachos, a double smashburger, or a cheesesteak with a berry lemonade to drink. I've been leaning away from corn dogs the past couple of years, though, there's only one or two vendors that make a decent corn dog and they've been hit or miss, others just overcharge you for bar-s tier garbage.

Lmao I've gone to a state fair a few years ago and it was city people attending it, I assume to try to experience rural culture, even though the fair culture is it's own thing and not really related to rural culture beyond the animal exhibits that they put on.
As an uncultured city rat I could see how that's an easy mistake for someone like you though.
Anyways, fair food is on the same level as food trucks and city street food so therefore its obviously fucking terrible.

In England at fairs you used to be able to get these hot donuts that were really dense and stodgy. Bit like a sweetened version of Jamaican fried dumplings. I don't know if they're still a thing because I haven't been to any fairs or carnivals in years but I still remember how good they were.

The only things I don't like too much are the turkey legs (too dry) and the really dumb fried foods. So... a friend of the family used to run a stall at the local county fair.

He'd do typical stuff. Ice cream, grilled items, etc.

But one year... and it was the year I needed some extra spending money while I was still in high school... I offered to help at the stall for, you know, some cash. Like 50 bucks a day.

Bastard had me making hand pulled cotton candy.

It was popular because it'd get a crowd, because watchin' a 17 year old pull cotton candy was a bit of a show.

(This was also the year the clown they got for the dunk tank got arrested for being obscene in public. He was insulting everyone that stepped up.)
