I have autism, but I always have those ramen noodles ready to go. Even at work I'll add some hot water and then wait 4 minutes and put in the flavor packet. It's easy.

dried pasta + jarred marinara

I'm in college so the obligatory ramen, but my usual main stay is a can of reduced sodium soup, because some days it is really cold and a can of soup just feels good.

This is one. I also always have potatoes, onions, peppers, and eggs, great for a hash for breakfast or dinner and the veg can also go in sauce or soup. Almost always some canned chili or soup in the cupboard, to have by itself or with leftover bread or for chili dogs or to top on fried potatoes.

Rice, beans, frozen shrimp, ramen, tortillas, canned fish, several kinds of pickled vegetables, miso paste and instant dashi.

not him, but not really
if he's in a dorm, a hot plate may be all he has to cook with
that limits him to one pot/skillet dishes
stir/deep frying is too messy and potentially dangerous
so that limits him to things like canned foods (soup, chili, beans), kraft mac, hot dogs, and so on
add fixed/limited income to the equation, and you get ramen

When I lived in a dorm, all I had was a microwave on the floor. I still didn't use it. There are easy jobs to be had on campuses like a computer lab baby sitter where you can just do your homework or browse the internet if money's really that short (as if most people don't take out loans which could go towards food plans anyway).
